Popped and poored. Very silky feel in the mouth. Not a ton going on but well integrated with enough to make it really enjoyable. Drank over several hours but didn't get a ton of difference towards the end of that so not sure it's worth a longer pre-drink opening. Will try it that way next time around.

While I enjoyed this wine very much, I do think it could benefit from a few more years in the cellar. I popped and poured and as usual the nose was very noticeable. Lots of dark fruit on the palate with maybe a touch of pepper. It was a bit hot (alcoholic) but not overly so considering. Had one glass on the second night and it was actually better to my taste. Good stuff.

Popped and poured. Delicious red and black fruits on the palate. Incredibly easy to drink and just vanished. No taste of alcohol at all. I want more!!

Quick notes here ... popped and poured and followed over several hours. The nose was huge and exploded from the bottle. Lots of wondering dark and blue fruits. Unfortunately, it blew off pretty quickly. On the palate I got a lot of the same fruit with maybe a tad of spice (pepper?). The only downside is that there was a bit of fizz to it and ever so slightly chemical in taste. Don't get me wrong ... still very much enjoyed it but it's not the same wine as what comes out of Saxum these days. Take it for what you will but I'd still buy/drink this sucker with gusto!

Brought to dinner and popped and poured. Pretty acidic up front but mellowed out pretty quickly. Very drinkable Syrah. Wish I had another bottle or two to sit on.

First older first growth I've had and was just delighted. Cork did break but was able to extract the lower half with no problems. No signs of seepage at all. Popped and poured and followed over about 2 hours. The nose was very sweet and noticeable upon opening. On the palate I got quite a bit of darker fruits flavors up front. Was honestly surprised at how fruity it still is. As the night progressed the sweet fruits started to get a bit smoky (cherry maybe) and a good bit of creme de cassis on the finish. Would of been interesting to let it sit for awhile longer but it was just too good! All in all a great first experience for me.

Popped and poured and followed over 2 hours. Lighter in body than other Carlisle Zin's I've had but still a nice good core of sweet fruit. Quite acidic up front but mellows out and becomes much more enjoyable after an hour or so. Not quite as enjoyable as some of the Carlisle Zin's I've had that have a few years on them but I suspect it will get there.

Decanted for one and hour and followed over the following 2. This was had next to the '08 Sigaro with steaks. Noticeably lighter in color and just delicious in it's own right. Sweeter fruits on the nose and palate. Very noticeable dark cherry flavor and a touch of vanilla on the finish. Tannins were present but seemed to integrate fairly quickly with some air time. Different but pretty much just as enjoyable as the Sigaro. Larry is making some great wine.

Popped and poured and followed over about 2 hours. Tasting notes seem to be all over the place for this wine but I felt it was outstanding. Not a powerful nose at all but a velvety feel on the palate with some very definite sweet fruits to it. Maybe even more red than black fruits on the palate (probably the Merlot). I felt like it was quite drinkable immediately but improved pretty dramatically over 2 hours. Good stuff.

Decanted for about an hour and then followed over an additional 2 hours. Nose shows a ton of dark fruit, some cassis and additional notes that sprang up over 2 hours. Silky smooth on the palate. An absolute joy to drink. A bit tannic up front but really mellowed out over time and became even more enjoyable to drink. More dark fruits on the palate with a subtle sweet (dark cherry maybe) undertone that was so enticing. I have a couple more of these and will be hard pressed not to drink them soon. Just great.

Popped and poured and followed over about 1.5 hours. Really jammy up front with a big dose of oak and herbs (pepper?). Definitely not for everyone but I loved the super ripe dark/blue fruits. Everything I love about Saxum. Still very noticeable acidity so I would guess it'll last for some time yet but no reason to hold off. I've got one more bottle and I won't be letting it sit much longer.

Popped and poured and followed over about 3 hours. Big sweet nose of dark fruit wafting from the glass. Really made me salivate. First taste showed some pretty strong tannins on the finish so I let it sit in the glass for about 30 minutes. Surprisingly, the tannins were quite mellow after just 30 minutes. At that point, you could really feel how smooth and silky the texture of the wine is. One of the things I just love about Kapcsandy wines. Lots of dark fruit with some noticeable cassis as well. Very pleasant drinking after some air time. I'll probably hold the other bottles I have for a year or two.

Popped and poured and consumed over two nights. This is my first Tempranillo so take this with a grain of salt. Very dark fruit aromatics that are pretty prominent. Maybe a tad herby on the nose as well. More dark fruit on the palate that hits you from the start. Tannins are definitely present but the acidity is what struck me the most. Much more subdued and enjoyable on the second night so I'd give it some air time (or years in the bottle) next go 'round.

Popped and poured into a decanter and followed over about 2 hours. Definitely a bit tannic up front but quickly mellowed into a pretty drinkable state. Lots of floral notes with a hint of licorice. On the palate you can feel the red fruit on the tongue. Hard to pinpoint a particular fruit but plenty of sweetness. Really enjoyable right now but I'd recommend at least an hour decant at this stage.

Decanted for about 2 hours up front. Very sweet nose that leans more towards red fruit. One the palate it's quite dense and almost jammy in texture. Darker fruits hit you first with some earthy undertones on the finish. It also hints at a bit of spice but hard for me to pinpoint it. Very enjoyable Cab for me but not extraordinary.

Popped and poured into decanter. First aromatics were pretty muted and a bit overly tannic up front. That did start to integrate fairly quickly though and after about 30 minutes in the decanter it was noticeably settled. I never really got anything overpowering on the nose but very strong cassis and oak up front on the palate. After some air time the dark/sweet fruit really started to show as well. Overall a really good wine but I'll give it ~2 hours in the decanter up front next go round.

Decanted for about an hour and then poured back into the bottle to let it sit for another hour+ before dinner. Immediate oak/wood note on the nose with just a touch of sweetness that might be black cherry. On the palate this wine is incredibly smooth and well integrated. Nothing dominates but there is plenty of complexity. Initially I got some oak on the palate as well but it seemed to smooth out and fade. Following that there was a definite licorice vibe with just a drop of sweetness on the finish that came across as vanilla to me. Maybe a tad of spices thrown in there along the way. Delicious wine and my first QC.

Popped and poured and consumed over two days. The nose was a bit muted at first but opened up nicely after some time in the glass. Very understated red fruits with what I think was an earthy undertone. Medium bodied on the palate and very smooth in texture. Very fine tannins that integrated even more on the second day. Very enjoyable to drink.

Popped and poured into decanter. First taste was full of very sweet dark fruits but quite tannic. I let it sit for an hour and tried again. Still quite tannic but a touch of mocha/oak coming through. After about 3 hours in the decanter you could really start to tell the quality of this wine. Incredibly smooth and silky and sweet jammy dark fruits. Wonderful stuff. Had about 1/3 of it left for the second night and it was even better. Fruit not nearly as forward but overall much more integrated and no noticeable tannins. I imagine this wine will be 1-2 points better after several more years in the bottle.

Popped and poured into a decanter. Nice nose but not overpowering. Some floral notes as well as some sweet fruit. The first taste does display some noticeable heat but is quickly overshadowed by a silky smooth texture and juicy fruits. Darker fruits with what I expect is blueberry dominating the palate. Good finish and mild but noticeable tannins. I followed over about 2 hours and the heat did seem to diminish and overall the wine became more enjoyable. Only one more bottle so I'll let it sit a couple of years before trying again. Very tasty wine.

Popped and poured. Good nose with strong dark fruit oozing out of the bottle. First sip and you can taste even more of those dark fruits. Black cherry is abundant. Very subtle hint of cassis and plum and maybe a tad of tobacco. Tannins are well integrated but definitely present on the finish so should last for some time to come. My appreciation of Beringer PR is growing the more I have of it.

Popped and poured. Quite a bit of currant on the nose with a bit of smoke and just a hint of something sweet (vanilla maybe). On the palate, that sweet character stands out even more. Almost red fruity as opposed to the typical dark fruit. Overall, very enjoyable wine but not quite in the great category. Good stuff.

Popped and poured. Wow ... seriously grippy stuff. Regardless, it was quite tasty. A good bit of red fruit coupled with some fairly subtle spices. Drank it over two nights and much more pleasurable on day 2. Next go 'round I'll decant for a couple of hours but probably better off waiting a couple years before trying again.

My first bottle of Saxum and ... wow. I might be in trouble here. Popped and poured and the nose just jumped out of the glass. Sweet, dark fruit. On the palate it is juicy and delicious. Tons of dark fruit with a touch of smoky meat flavor. Still a bit tannic at first but calmed down pretty quickly and was probably a bit better overall on the second night. I'm now definitely searching for some more Saxum. Not that I have cellar space or budget for it ...

I'm not a huge Syrah fan but I really enjoyedf this. Lots of smoky/grilled meat on the nose with maybe a bit of pepper. The palate was a bit muted at first but after about an hour it really started to open up. Very sweet blackberry taste that just went great with the typical meaty Syrah texture/taste. Definitely need to try some more from Cayuse.

Popped and poured. Interesting nose of wet grass/earth and maybe a tad of spice. However, the palate was terribly muted. You could tell there was some black fruit in there but it just wasn't popping out at all. Drank over two hours and it never opened up. It was very smooth with completely integrated tannins but I just think it's past it's prime by a couple years.

Was much darker red than I have come to expect from a PN. Popped and poured and notes of red fruit jumped out of the glass. I got a heavy raspberry/strawberry vibe with maybe a bit of sweet cherry. More of the same on the palate. Medium bodied and very smooth. Very enjoyable PN.

This one was a bit odd. I popped and poured and the nose was quite powerful up front. Lots of cherry followed but a bit of smokiness. Plenty of red fruit on the palate as well. Very nice finish. Oddly though, it seemed to close down a bit after breathing for about 20 minutes. The nose and the palate seemed a bit muted. Very strange. I wonder if it could use another year in the bottle maybe.

Popped and poured ... Nice oak (which I like) & fruit notes to it. On the palate it has a very buttery/creamy feel to it and went down very well. Fruit/tropical fruit flavors going down. All in all ... very enjoyable white blend. One note though, I drank over two nights and it was very subdued on the second night. So, might want to plan to drink in one sitting.

Very nice and smooth PN. It's the first Foxen I've tried and I'll definitely be looking for more. Lots of fruit flavor with maybe some black cherry and a bit of earthiness to it. Quite dark red for a PN as well. Good stuff.

First, I think it's still a bit young and definitely benefits from some decanting time. I'll shoot for at least 2 hours my next go 'round with this wine. Once it does get some air though it really starts to come through. Loads of spice with a hint of black cherry and maybe a tad of licorice. Medium bodied with plenty of tannins. The tannins do mellow with some air time which is was much more to my liking.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this wine. Popped it and poured a bit off the top and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Not a huge nose to it at all but nice all the same. The taste was very silky in texture. Very nice going down with some definite red fruit vibe. Moderate tannins that didn't detract from the flavor at all. Picked this up for around $38 and I'll definitely buy again.

Silky smooth taste to this one. Definite notes of fruit but a very strong smokey/wood nose that also shows up on the finish. Tannins are very well balanced and not overpowering in the least. If you can get these in the $50 range I really think it's a good buy. Very enjoyable Cab.

I have not had many Petite Sirah's so was very pleasantly surprised with this wine. I popped it about 1.5 hours prior to planned drinking with friends but took a little off the top and was overwhelmed with a strong liqueur scent and flavor to it. However, it was markedly different after some breathing time. Really thick creamy consistency that almost coated the glass. The liqueur flavor was still there but much more subtle and really added to the dark fruit flavors. I have a '99 from Rattlesnake Vineyard that I'm now very much looking forward to.

I drank over two nights. First evening after about 30 minutes of decanting the tannins were still a bit strong for my taste. Tended to overpower any complexity in the wine. However, the second evening (corked and put back in cellar) it was much better and a nice drinking Cab. Certainly not great but I did enjoy it. If I do buy again I'll be sure to let it breathe for quite awhile before drinking.

Borderline 89-90 but definitely a very good wine. Nose a bit muted but the subtle fruit flavors and easy tannin structure sure made this go down smooth!
