Rich juicy fruit, blackberries and dirt mixed together wonderfully. A fruitbomb....not that traditional. Wonderful wine though.

A bit of a fruit bomb for a brunello. Otherwise standard flavors...

Sour cherry, leather and gritty tannins. May need more time...may just be the wine. Sediment in glass..huge wine.

Odd finish, weird wine. Not recommended in light of the others which are much higher quality. (Others = 2002,2003,2004,2005) Tasted as a vertical.

Stunning wine, loads of classic Brunello tannins and acid, with all of the smoke, leather, tar and black cherry that one could want. Drinking amazingly well...

Good wine, needs food, by itself it's not an easy drinker. Lots of green pepper and floral notes. Give it some beef burgundy? Nice stuff....more like an 88 or 90.

Black Fruit bomb with some black pepper and dust on the finnish. Not tremendous volume of tannins, but what are there are not integrated particularly well on opening...must be decanted for a while. Not sure it has the balance to last for years. Would go well with pizza or BBQ.

Nice citrus flavors, a lot buttery. Does not drink like most white burg's I've had (must disagree with the review that says that.) Good wine at the price, better than most cali chards at this price range that are overwrought and over-oaked.

1. This is only about the 3'rd or 4'th aglianico I've ever had.
2. Nose of Cigar ashes, cedar and black cherry jolly ranchers.
3. Taste of the same, with some bell pepper and very...very chewy rough tannin. Opened too soon.

My response to the other tasters...
Bacon? Don't get that flavor at all. Olive's...maybe...more like the olive brine to go with that bell pepper.

Bright blackberry, with a little bell pepper and a jumble of tannin. Will decant thoroughly before trying again...not sure if it will age or if time will cause it to fall apart and it's meant to be drunk young and aired out. Still very good, but I'll withhold "excellent"

1. Weird wine.
2. Funky barnyard wet sock nose.
3. Comment of the evening: "It's like sticking your nose in a car tail pipe, and I like it?"

Huh...no reference for this inky tar filled beast.

Either bottle variation or glassware...but dang...Riedel varietal specific Brunello glass. Amazing nose of leather and earthy spices. Front palate of leather and spice, mid palate of some candied cherry, bitter cherry notes. Cedar and spice on the finish. Lovely.

Good, inky black, lots of beef and blood, with some interesting raspberry and currant notes. Not detecting the grainy tannins in either bottle I opened that some are reporting. One bottle thoroughly decanted and frankly a little lackluster for it. The other bottle not decanted and a far better experience. Tasting notes and score based on the undecanted bottle.

Excellent wine. Amber color, with honey and meade on the nose and palate. Finishes with some caramel, and honey, a tiny bit of toasted hazelnut. The 65 and 80 point scores must have either: Had a bad bottle...or...not known what this should taste like. Try either cool ~55 degrees (hmmm..cellar temp, coincidence? I think not...or warmer 70F over a large 1 1/8" cubed ice cube. Cool keeps the alcohol in check. Warmer allows the aroma to flourish while the ice cube keeps the alcohol in check. If consumed too warm (70+) the wine is a mess...as are most wines.

Great value in wine...positives, dark plum/blackberry flavor from the syrah, hints of vanilla, well balanced acidity/tannins and sugar. Nice flavor, nothing really off in the wine. Negatives...a bit...odd...not sure I like the blend. Syrah tended to dominate the whole thing...can't define it exactly, but it was disjointed.

Dark red, little bricking...bright cherry one-note nose. Amazing balance, no harshness or even fineness to tannins or acidity, beautiful mouthfeel. Bright cherry flavors, again a bit one note, with some leather and smoke on the back palate. A weird menthol heat on the finish, but I'm not used to wines this old...no clue what that was. This was an amazing wine...far better than I expected for the age.
