Stellar. Both on the nose and the palate.
Still a lot of fine bubbles. Outstanding intensity, concentration and length, and yet never feeling ”too heavy”.

Quite young, but I do not find it hard to drink at the present time (I don't generally have a hard time drinking young champagnes with very high acidity, but I don't think this is among the most acidic I can remember drinking).

Smooth, elegant and fairly light-bodied.

Still very pleasant 24h after opening.

Fairly light bodied and elegant. It still seems to be in its youth. The acids make a distinctive impression, but are not unbalanced.
Has a little complexity and some length, but not quite like the greatest champagnes.

Still, quite a good blanc de blancs, if you don't require very full-bodied champagnes.
The style seems a bit special, somehow, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. My guess would be that it is the Selosse house style. I can't say I have tried champagnes from this house verymuch, but going from what little I have tried from my memory, I think there is a similarity.

Typical pinot noir dominated Winston Churchill champagne. Delicious as always. Probably doesn't have as much potential for improvement as a champagne from a vintage like 2002, though, so I would go for the Winston Churchill 2002 over this, for storage, although that is rather unsurprising, if you compare 2000 to 2002 in general. It still has room to develop, just not as much as the 2002 imo.

A great, typical Winston Churchill style champagne, which means it leans toward a slight dominance of pinot noir over chardonnay (in both style and actual content) and that its balance and harmony is nearly flawless.

Still very much in its youth. The 2000 vintage of this champagne I think is more open and possibly even more enjoyable than the 2002, at the present time. Still, this will probably surpass the 2000, eventually.
The score I give it is for its present stage, not what I think it will be (i.e. I think it will reach greater heights in the future).

An amazingly good champagne from a fairly average vintage. Typical house style.

Clos du Mesnil is a constantly fantastic champagne, every vintage I have had the great pleasure to try (1985, 1988, 1998 and this 2000). Amazing richness and complexity. A bit like Vintage Krug, certainly having that same house style, but lighter and more fine-tuned (as can be expected from a blanc de blancs).
This does not stand up to the 1980's vintages of this wine which I have tried, but still, for a still relatively young champagne from the fairly average vintage of 2000, it is still (to my palate, obviously) above most prestige cuvées of top vintages...

Had a little taste of it, and I have tried it several times before.

Grande Cuvée has a very special style. From my point of view, it is clearly the greatest non-vintage champagne out there (although Krug themselves call it multi-vintage).
Vintage Krug from a good year, not to mention Clos du Mesnil, does surpass this wine by a good margin, but it is still a complex wine in Krug style and always delivers.

A very impressive Cristal vintage and a wonderful example that some champagnes can be absolutely delicious, even without much maturity.
I have always considered Cristal to taste a bit more exotic than other champagnes, and that is a great feature.

Simply amazing champagne. Fantastic Krug nose. Enormous concentration and richness, in perfect harmony despite the sheer power of the wine.
Vintage Krug is not a champagne that is easily drunk in major quantities, though, due to its compactness.

Fantastic youth and acidity, even approaching the 20 year mark. It required hours to open up, but when it did, it showed the signs of a fantastic champagne. There is a lot to be had, with more maturity, and I suspect this wine will live for a very, very long time yet. It will be very interesting to follow its journey.

In my experience, Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs is a reliable performer, and this vintage was no exception. It is also very reasonably priced.
Still quite young, but very well balanced.
When opened, it stood up well to Salon 1996, and that is saying quite a bit. After a couple of hours, the Salon showed it was the greater wine of the two, but still.

Certainly a very good champagne, but still ever so slightly disappointing to me from a vintage as great as 1996 and from Bollinger.

Certainly a great, fine tuned blanc de blancs with some maturity. I remember drinking it several years ago (around 2006-2007), and it wasn't nearly as good at the time (maybe around 89, then, approximately from my memory), so it certainly has grown and developed.

Was tasted against champagnes. I thought it was definitely drinkable, but somewhat simple, and was unsure whether it was a champagne. Still, not at all bad considering its price point.
