Complex, med+ body, dark juicy fruit, holding up well. Good wine but was not the #1 wine of the night IMHO (#1 as chosen by the group). DD Blind 1982-2005 Bordeaux 1st Growth dinner at BOA steakhouse.

ESTG does Southern Rhone and Provence (Seattle, WA, USA): A bit tired for a 1990, delicate, like the 83 but a bit bitter and clipped. The longer we sat with it, the more sure we were that it was just a bit cooked.

Perfect cork. From magnum. Decanted and initially a bit thin but we let it sit for one hour. Light ruby with lightening at the rim. After one hour it all came together. Rich, full bodied, notes of rich compost. Long long finish. Absolutely delicious. Fully mature but not going over the hill anytime soon.
At release in 1985 I liked this wine so much that I purchased three cases of 750ml and one case of magnums. BTW this was $30 per bottle and $60 per magnum. This wine drank well from day one. Over all those bottles, I never had a bad bottle. Simply amazing. This was the very last bottle.

This wine keeps improving and has now hit the very enjoyable stage. Medium ruby, nose of forest floor and berries. Very mouth coating and a long long finish.

This is just starting to show a colour transition from all medium red to a slight orange rim. This has great acidity, moderate tannins with a very predominant flavours of cedar and raisin. The residual taste from the tannins leaves a dryness and bitterness on the palate . Disappointing wine for me . No extra bottles in my cellar to see if this is typical or unique for Lambray,s Clos des Lambrays 2010 vintage?
Checked my previous notes and the taste profile seems to be off in several bottles.

Second bottle from a half case purchased en primeur. Pristine. Opened and tasted at 4pm. The nose is initially very closed and a bit dusty, but the palate does not show an excess of tannins, and a touch of raisins and nuts. Decanted and revisited at 6.30pm. Mature but lively appearance; warm glowing nose, vinous, some liquorous fruit, spicy, still a bit dusty, good depth; the palate is fresh and structured, the tannins are high but ripe, flavours of cedar and red berries, cool and transparent rather than fleshy and rich; relatively dry finish, black tea. This bottle seems fully mature but also a bit dour, and I hope that my remaining four are better and more welcoming than this. DrWine2001's tasting notes from 2019 give me some hope. Or will 2005 turn out to be a vintage that was always too young, until it was too old?

Had side by side with a 2000 Arcadian Francesca, this was more earth driven and showed slightly more lackluster in comparison. Very enjoyable and similar to bottle opened last may.

This wine has been very consistent for me. I purchased a case at release but did not open the first for about five years. I have now opened 10 bottles and every single one has been flawed. Serious Brett and an awful nose makes this undrinkable for me.

1/30/19, 7:35 AM - I read comments about this wine and many have found brett but tend to dismiss this flaw.

A full frontal assault of tannin. But all the parts are there to make this a fine Dry Creek Cabernet Sauvignon. I will give it five years or so. Already sold out at the winery.

This has been in my cellar since Kermit Lynch released it, frankly it is disappointing. Quite advanced in age and a bit tired it is still enjoyable but it should be more vibrant at this point. I was disappointed with the 2001 and more so with this vintage. It is not a question of the cellaring conditions which are good, but of the wine

I opened this wine way too early but was in the mood. Medium ruby, reticent nose. The fruit is all there but plenty of tannins present at the moment. I would give this wine another 3-4 years before another try.

(Very old note for personal reference)
Full, generously fruity nose. School book. Black currant, cedary oak, and subtle mineral notes. Smokey spiciness adds complexity. Very deep and complex.
Full, austere and concentrated palate. Just about ready (at 26 years of age!). Elegant and balanced. Oaky, cedary with dark fruit, mineral and ink. Sublime and tannic. But is there just a slight hint of dryness in the finish (being prickly)?
Blindtasted at the same time as 1988 Ch Margaux, 1993 Ch Latour, and 1995 Cos d'Estournel, this came out as runner up defeated by Ch Margaux.
