Beautiful, masculine wine with a long dry finish that begs for food. Decanted one hour and enjoyed for another +. Intoxicating nose of earth, leather, musk. This is old school California Cab. Fabulous.

Soft, gentle, herbaceous and very approachable. Lovely round body. Delicious but I would have liked a little more character--more expression. Still very enjoyable.

DATAW Wine Club. Chardonnay tasting. I added this wine. It was well received. No one new it was Austrian. Very sweet but the rine elements kept it from being only sweet . I still like Sauternes better.

Dark yellow, not much nose even as it warmed up. Dry, uniteresting palate without much fruit and then it stopped abruptly. Should have been much better.

Well, a split decision. My wife didn't like the nose or the palate. I found it to be a most wonderful wine. It is dark yellow, has an old nose of caramel and honey and nuts. The palate is luscious, with honey and old fruit. It is round and just delicious. I think it has aged beautifully. The youthfulness is certainly gone

Rare for me but this wine has it all. It is a fully mature, elegant wine. It has a wonderful sweet nose of moderate fruits, a smooth, tannin-free palate of fruit and complexity. It has all the desired effects of aging. No faults, a gorgeous wine.

A Gaja dinner was held at our home with wine educator Don Clemens from Terlato Wines. He served the 04 Barbaresco so I added the 1985 for comparison. The differences were startling. The 04 is very nice to drink now. It has moderate tannin, great, tightly bound dark fruit and great richness. The 85 is much lighter in color, with orange tones . The tannin has melted away The fruit remains but is less intense. It is a serene wine that just glides over the palate. Delicious and unobtrusive.

I was quite surprised to find this in my cellar and even more happy to find that it is a most lovely wine. It is very much alive, has a nice Burgundian nose, redolent of light fruits and a long, delicious palate of fruit, unobstructed by tannin. Long on the palate.
