Waited a long time to open this one. Nice colour - quite deep yellow. Great nose - lots of fruit. Very fresh. Decent acidity with a touch of fizziness. Good length too.

I love this wine. Has now reached full maturity. Decanted for about 90 minutes. Great nose with lots of dark fruit. Moderate acidity and good mouthfeel - still quite some tannins left. The taste lingers for many minutesss. Two bottles left and will drink them over the next few years.

Excellent wine - third of eight in my cellar. Great to see this develop over the years. Good nose & acidity too. Great length. Very good value from an excellent location on the Kaiserstuhl.

Great one. Excellent nose, very smooth, great acidity. One of the best Spätburgunders I’ve had. Only a single bottle which I’ve kept for 11 years. Worth it!

This is a weird one. First impression was that it was slightly corked, but after reading other tasting notes I’m not so sure… it may just be the funny nose. Anyway, I don’t really like it, so I’ll conclude that it wasn’t how it was intended to be…which is always a bit of a shame.

I've been looking forward to drinking this one for nine years and it didn't disappoint. I don't have many Burgundy Grand Crus in my cellar - but this makes me think I probably should. Decanted and drunk in two stages: after about an hour and three hours later. Deep ruby colour and a wonderful nose that developed over time. Barnyard and leather at first, later strawberries and cherries. It was a substantial wine with power and strength unlike any other pinot noir I've ever had. Still quite tannic and good acidity on the palate. But the flavour lingers for what seems like forever - at least 10 minutes. Cracking wine. I have one more bottle and I look forward to drinking it in about 5-10 years time.

Final one of four, purchased in 2014. Good nose with fruit and some smokiness that develops nicely after about an hour, but it really comes alive on the palate. Blackberries and cherries, enormously fruity but not heavy. Good structure and acidity. Really good wine and great value.

Straw colour and fruity and flowery nose. Not too acidic, good mouthfeel. Wonderful aroma and flavour combination on the palate. Good length. Great value if you visit Bernkastel.

Light in colour. Little bit of fizz on opening. Flowers on the nose with citrus in the background. Very dry. On the palate: citrus, violets but quite brutal and acidic. Not very refined.

Second of three bottles. Bodes well for the first wine which I'm keeping just a bit longer. Good to drink now, with lots of fruit and tannin which has subsided quite noticeably since 2012. Great value... Should have bought all the bottles they had at the time.

Very pleasant nose, though it takes a few minutes to appear. Very flowery, tropical in nature. On the palate, the acidity and citrusy flavours dominate. Good length. No petrol and not much minerality, at least not in the first 3hrs after opening.

Ruby colour and an impressively fruity nose of cherries, with a hint of smokiness. Moderate acidity but still quite grippy. Despite that smooth with good length. Really enjoyable.

Decanted 3-4 hours before drinking. Dark fruit, leather, pencil and oak dominate a pleasant nose. Good acidity but still rather strong tannins. Very good length, quite sweet. Drinking well right now but might improve a little if the tannins dissolve over the next 3-5 years.

Dark ruby colour and a oak dominated nose keeping the cherries and strawberries in the background. Strong acidity dominates the palate with grippy tannins giving way to a little bunch of cherries. Moderate length. Bit of a disappointment.

Popped and poured. Medium ruby. Typical nose, with a little cherry and modest use of oak. Hint of spice in the background. Still young, but good acidity and mild tannins. Red fruits on the palate and average length. Not bad.

Not very forthcoming nose. A bit of fruit hiding behind a wet cardboard box with some pencils sticking out. Quite grippy but not a lot (enough) acidity. Fruit is also not very present on the palate. Decent length. Needs quite a lot more time, as expected. Shows promise.

Fruity nose, decent acidity, but not the most pleasing on the palate. High in alcohol, and indeed a little bitter aftertaste, as others have remarked. Did not really improve much on nights 2 and 3. Some oxidization. Not good.

Medium yellow (quite dark), some bubbles still present. Fruity nose with citrus, pineapple, tropical notes as well. No minerality. Very smooth, moderate acidity (for a dry Riesling that is). A bit of heat, which isn't surprising with 13.5% alc. Decent length, though not quite as good as expected.
