PNP. Light to medium yellow. Stone fruit and some wood on nose. Palate of stone fruit,
minerals and citrus with good acidity and nice balance. Could pass off as a Cote de Beaune white. Very drinkable.

Opened 1 hour in bottle. Riedel burg glass. Medium bright red colour. Classic Rousseau nose of aromatic red fruit. Palate is ripe rich red fruit with a superb balance of fine tannin and medium + acidity. This is not a simple wine as the underlying Gevrey structure is very present, providing some complexity.so delicious. Wanted to order a second bottle but the restaurant ran out.

Natural wine. Medium dark cloudy yellow. Aromas
of cider and some ripe tropical fruit. Palate with slight fizz. Medium high acidity and medium finish. Not a fan of cloudy, fizzy natural wines, hence my rating.

Opened 2 hours in bottle. Riedel burg glass. Medium red with hint of tawny. Very floral and aromatic nose of red fruit but closed down after a while. Some others had a bit of cardboard - perhaps the glass was not clean. No corked smell or flavours in my glass. Medium light body of red fruit, stems and fine tannin with a medium long finish. Did not give me that wow factor nor lip smacking deliciousness. Other tastings of CDLR and GV Combettes from the noughties did not impress me either. Maybe Dujac is just not my style but that’s just me.

Opened 2 hours in bottle. Spigelau Burgundy glass. Medium pale red colour. Nose of attractive red fruit and floral scents. Palate of cherry and and a light structure of fine tannin and acidity. Medium long finish. Lacking in mid palate and structure. No doubt JM Millot is built in a more elegant style but the intensity, complexity and length is somewhat lacking for a wine of this caliber at this time. Perhaps time will might improve this wine.

Pop and pour. Spigelau Burg glass. Medium red with cloudiness. Nose of red fruit, hints of barnyard, vegetation in a very balanced Prieure Roch style. Palate silky red fruit and more vegetation and unami. Balanced with medium + acidity and fine tannin. Medium finish. Delicious.

Ruby red youthful purple. Young blue fruit nose. Prominent aromatics. Palate of blue fruit with medium high acidity and evident oak. Tannic structure with good balance and medium finish. New style of ripe fruit and polished tannin and with acidity to balance but lacking classicism of Burgundy. Possibly global warming with riper fruit characteristics, or could it be a new trend of riper fruit for earlier drinking? Could be a Pinot from the new world….and can it age and improve?

Pale ruby purple. Very aromatic nose of red fruit and violets. Palate initially sweet with cherry and flowers but mid palate fades. Fine tannin and high acid finish. Compared to the 2020 Gevrey Chambertin , it seemed somewhat lacking in body but perhaps not a fair comparison.

Lovely bright yellow. Expressive nose of ripe fruit. Classic stone fruit palate in a richer, riper style. Very beautifully balanced with a nice complex mid palate and a medium long finish. Medium + acidity, not the higher acid linear style. Drinking deliciously now but with many more years ahead.

Medium dark red. Blue fruit spectrum on nose. Very ripe blue fruit on nose. Good balance but structured with a balanced acidity and medium long finish. Elegance with ripeness. Not quite my favorite style. Prefer a more classically styled Burgundy. Too much hype with a price to match.

Bright red. Clear and clean. Flowers and red fruit burst forth in a typically expressive Fourier style. Palate with sweet ripe cherry and floral scents. There is some tannic structure supporting with a good balance of acidity and tannin. Probably improve with a few years more of age. But so delicious now. Compared to Rousseau’s 2018 GV village, the Fourrier is more candied red fruit and exuberant while Rousseau has the red fruit with more structure and mineral.

Light yellow color. Reserved nose of stone fruits, citrus. Palate of ripe stone fruit with a silky mouthfeel and beautifully balanced acidity in a long lingering finish. Classical white Burgundy. Drunk too young but such a beauty.

Medium light red. Floral light red fruit on nose. Palate lightweight red fruit and good balance and medium acidity. Fine tannin and medium - length. Lacks mid palate structure and rather simple. Recommended by sommelier as a more classical style but I think the 2019 would probably have been a better choice.

Medium red. Red fruit nose - a tad over ripe with a hint of alcoholic warmth. Palate of very ripe red fruit but with balanced acidity, intensity. Lovely balance but in a very ripe style, despite the cooler year. Compared to Grivot’s version of the same year, a much bigger wine compared to Grivot’s elegance and harmony but still balanced and enjoyable.

Light to medium red. Very expressive nose of red fruit and some earthiness. Light but perfectly balanced palate of red cherry and some spice and saline character. Very elegant NSG, perhaps more Vosne in character. Lovely medium finish. Standout harmonious. Everything in balance and singing together.

Drank at Etxebarri. Very bright red. Clean. Red fruit on nose. Palate of strawberries, cherries, bit of herb but no leather. Very bright acids give freshness and intensity. Medium length and medium long finish. Still young but approachable now. Would benefit from a few years to gain more complexity.

Drank at Etxebarri. Godello grape. Sommelier described it as a Burgundian white and he was right! Medium light yellow. Ripe nose of stone fruit and very mineral. Palate of rich ripe fruit, flint and an almost painfully long and very intense finish. Superb balance and a really Wow! wine. Could pass as a grand cru Burg. I like Godello but I never would have thought it could be like this.

Tasted at Chateau. Deep red. Perfumed nose of red and blue fruit. Palate has ripe rich fruit of a warm year with elegant tannins and well-integrated oak. Great balance and medium length. Almost richer than than 2011 Margaux tasted side by side but without the seamlessness, length and complexity.

Tasted at Chateau. Deep red purple. Nose quite expressive with red and blue fruit. Palate approachable with layers of cherry and blueberry. Hallmark elegance, yet complex with fine tannin and a medium long finish. No green notes. The elegance and refinement of Margaux but lacking the concentration and power of a great year.

Tasted at Chateau. Deep purple red. Surprisingly open nose of blue black fruit and faint oak. Some smokiness. Palate dense ripe rich blue and black berry with very fine tannin. Oak is well absorbed by the rich layered fruit. Intense, full-bodied and complex with a long finish. Approachable now but would improve further with another 5 years and would last decades.

Drank at Les Climats. Lovely medium red colour. Clean. Nose of quiet red fruit. Palate of ripe bit reserved red fruit. Very elegant but with structure and minerality. A bit aloof and sophisticated. Good balance and structure. A wine that charmes you and then closes up at the end leaving you yearning for more. Compared to Mugnier’s Bonne Mares 2015 open at the same time, very different with the Mugnier open and upfront and enjoyable to the end.

Tasted at Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Dark red. Clean. Ripe nose of black and blue fruit. Palate of darker blue and black fruit, good complexity and fine acidity and tannins. Well-integrated oak. Medium ++ intensity, acidity, structure. Drinking well now but will be better with age. Always had a soft spot for Clerc Milon. Trivia - the characters on the label are copied from a small about 10cm jeweled piece in the Chateau museum

Tasted at Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Dark red purple. Very ripe nose of blue and black fruit framed by prominent new oak. Palate of ripe rich black and blue fruit with good acidity to balance out the rich fruit. Oak a bit prominent and not integrated yet. Medium +++ body, acidity and intensity and structure. A big wine from a great year but needs 5-10 years more. Current rating based on sample but a potentially much higher rating when mature (93-95)

Light yellow. Fresh stone fruit and minerals on nose. Lovely palate of still primary stone fruit driven by a salinity and acidity. A bit lean and less structure in the middle but still an excellent Roulot. Interesting comparison with a Richard Leroy 2007 which was much more evolved with tertiary notes.

Rare find of an aged RL. Dark yellow. Clean. Nose of honey, wax. Palate still fresh. Tertiary notes abound but with balanced acidity. Complex and interesting but time to drink up. Compared to a 2007 Roulot Mersault Les Tesssons Clos de Mont Plasir side by side, the Roulot displayed more primary fruit and freshness.

RC wine that is only found in restaurants. 1747 bottles made. Medium darker red. Nose of dark red blue fruit blended with hint of stems typical of RC. Open palate of red and blue fruit, stems giving complexity. Very balanced with a fine acid and tannin structure. Intense and yet drinking so well. Has the structure, fruit and acid to age. Petit Monts sits above Richebourg.

Rare to find this once in a lifetime wine. CM 1er Plantes with Musigny blended in. Medium dark red. Classic Mugnier nose of ripe sweet red cherry. Palate of sweet red fruit, clean and pure. Medium length and some complexity. Impeccable balance and and so delicious. Typical Mugnier from a riper year. Compared to the Bonne Mares 2015 it lacks some stuffing and complexity but has all the Mugnier characteristics. So good.

Drank at Casa Nicholas. Light brown colour yet a very fresh expressive nose of flowers and red fruit and leather. Palate of red fruit, leather and truffle. Lovely balanced acidity keeping this 45 year old wine still fresh. Great balance and length. Lots of sediment so need to decant. Great aged Rioja.

Drank at Caves Legrand. Medium red with slight brown rim. Expressive nose of more red than blue fruit. Very elegant palate of red fruit, floral accents. No barnyard flavors. Light to medium body. A bit lean (due to vintage?) and drying on the finish. Good balance and drinking well now.

Drank at La Cagouille. Apparently this bottle is Les Vireuils fruit. Mid yellow. Slight flinty nose with citrus and stone fruit. Palate clean. Citrus, stone fruit and flint. Classic Coche with superbly balanced acidity, fruit, minerals and length. A hint of mint at the end? Perhaps lacking a little body and complexity but nonetheless an impressive wine.

Medium red. Clean and clear. Nose has not very expressive - grudgingly reveals red fruit. Palate tight initally but opens up with lean red cherry, some flowers and a high acid and medium tannic finish. Still lean and reserved since last tasted 4-5 years ago. A strict Chambolle and perhaps the fruit might not be generous enough to outlast the tannin and acid.

Medium red with light brown edge. Expressive nose of cigar box, graphite, black fruit, leather and hint of barnyard. Very clean and bright. Beautifully rich mature fruit, tertiary notes and cedar oak balances the very refined tannin and velvety mouthfeel. It’s a wonderfully balanced, complex and complete wine. Just lovely.

Medium yellow. Nose very forward with ripe stone and tropical fruit. Palate - intense flavours of ripe lemons, peach even pineapple balanced by mouth-watering acidity, sweetness and a medium finish. A little too forwards and perhaps lacking in some complexity but nonetheless a very delicious wine. Would be well appreciated by non-drinkers. Big bonus is the QPR. Well worth the $$

Hand carried back from Beaune almost 10 years ago. In cellar since. Colour medium red with evident brown rim. Nose of very ripe red and dark fruit and alcohol. Palate follows nose with a ripe red fruit spectrum, earth and heady alcohol of a warm year (14%). Rustic notes of earth and slightly rough tannins follow to a balanced and medium long finish. A big rustic wine. Very Beaune and warm vintage in character. Not Chambolle or Volnay but very enjoyable still.
