Alas, much of the barnyard has integrated. Nonetheless, it's a good quaff.

decanted 2 hours, nose of cedar with vanilla, tart fruit with fine-grained tannin. Complexity builds after 6 hours with a smack of tomato mid-palette, although the nose tightens. Paired nicely with Easter lamb.

Lovely and aromatic with red cherries and black licorice. On the palette the red cherry returns with rose leading to an interesting prune as the black licorice brings it all back together. Tannins build slowly and crescendo big.

Pop and pour. A hint of funk followed quickly by cherries and vanilla creme on the nose. The palette is big on the ripe red cherries and cherry cola, with a reminder of the funk mid-palette. None of the heat found in the last two vintages.

The funk is still assaulting the snout, and this bottle has a more forward acidity. Leaning towards 89 for this bottle, and I'm feeling generous today.

Is this a fluke? The funk on the nose is considerably pronounced on this bottle. Really some definitive sheep butt going on with the olfactory sensation. The cherry cola is still on the palette.

The nose has really opened up, with a big floral element. Flowers and minerals wrapped around a thin core of strawberry wash over the palette. More minerals in the finish. This Ripasso needs time in the bottle to develop.

Pop 'n pour is very hot, but blows off in ~1 hr to reveal the standard Bryon cherry cola with an uncharacteristic black pepper nuance. A little alcohol hangs on in the finish. I expect this will improve with bottle aging, just like previous vintages.

Decanted 2 hours. Dark, dark, dark purple. Nose of Creme de Cassis. Black currents, Earth, volcanized rubber, gripping tannins on the palette. Move it to the deep cellar and try again in a year. Hopefully the rubber will soften into something more interesting. Needs something rich and fatty to balance the tannins... maybe grilled lamb loin chops with gremolata.
