Last of 4 bottles acquired shortly after release. Decanted a hour before tasting at cellar temperature over several hours. 14% Labeled ABV. Wonderfully balanced wine. Bright medium golden yellow. Nose has roasted nuts, cream, orchard fruit, wet stones and citrus. Palate has nice texture with bright acidity. The cream and butter notes ebb and flow over time with varying degrees of emphasis. In the end more orchard fruit than citrus with an undertone of minerals. Extremely long with great depth. Finish has some herbal, ginger and floral notes that make this fresh to the last drop. At or slightly after peak but certainly not in serious decline if cellared well. Really beautiful with a goat cheese, olive and sun-dried tomato tapenade.

{Emirates lounge, Dubai} Mid gold colour. Butterscotch, apple, marzipan, melon, peach. Iron. Oak in background. Minor tca? Buttery, and A little washed out of flavour on the palate. Showing some oxidation but not full-on. Nice acidity and phenolic grip across the back palate, and a moderate-long length, mineral and fig finish. Pale gold in color. Really drinking wonderfully right now (but still has great acidity and lots of life left). Baked apples, lemon zest, stone and a dash of spice on the nose. Very creamy mouth feel on the front, but leaves you with a zingy mineral finish at the end. Reminds me of why I love white burgundy so much.

Similar to my previous bottle back in 2019. Relatively muted abs flat to a degree. With air time showing good minerality and citrus. Velvety but in a flat way. Lacking acid as noted by others.

Decanted and kept at cellar temperature for 2 hours before returning to the bottle and taking to a friend’s house for dinner. Big but still elegant wine. Medium yellow gold color. Nose has some reduction and smokey elements that indicate grilled nectarine with some citrus and some slightly saline and mineral sensations. Palate is richly textured and slightly chewy with a honeyed note along with the grilled stone fruit and lemon pith on the finish. Very long and layered with bright acidity and yet a silky finish. Stupendous with a roasted home grown beet salad with ricotta, truffle honey, marinated grape tomatoes, cucumber and mint. The mint and honey flavors were significantly heightened with the wine. Really a wonderful bottle of wine that has many years of evolution ahead. Best bottle so far...one left.

Philly Wine Group Top French Wines Themed Dinner (The Prime Rib, Philadelphia): Double decanted around 2pm to bring to dinner in Philly at 5:30-6pm. Tasted alone as well as with crab cocktail and lobster in butter. The wine is a lovely medium yellow color, no sign of premox and actually showing a little reduction/SO2 which faded by the time I arrived at the restaurant. Fragrant but not too floral, more hazelnut, lemon and creme brûlée. It had medium acidity and a rich chewy profile. There was a modest amount of minerals/saline to it but again was more about hazelnuts, lemon curd, ripe citrus and a little of the burnt sugar on the finish which was only moderately long at about 20 seconds. Well balanced and very enjoyable. If I was to criticize it, there could have been more bright acidity to push it to the next level. Much better with the lobster than the crab.

Decanted at 5pm and tasted over the next 5-6 hours. Deep rich golden yellow color. Initially nose was dominated by smoke, sulfur, match stick/reduction. After 2-3 hours this had dissipated. Throughout, the nose was rather muted with just hints of various things like citrus, butter, cream cheese, banana, honey, ripe pear and some flinty stones. Mouth feel was wonderfully rich and opulent with minerals but not a huge amount and acidity to match, i.e. its there but not especially notable. Palate reflected the elements in the nose pretty closely and it was again very rich and round but not showing exuberance in any dimension. Flavors were very subtle and fleeting. Finish is rather long but again quite muted with a return of the smokey element late in the evening. Good wine to drink with the seafood medley my wife and I prepared of grilled Mahi Mahi with mango salsa, grilled shrimp and sautéed soft shell crab, not as well with the spice rubbed King Salmon in the medley.

Wow, right from the get go this wine has such a magical warm golden hue in the glass, its bouquet is one of warm honey and huckleberry. Smooth on entry, with a complete mouth feel moving towards a lasting yet fresh finish of over 30 seconds. Notes of fresh warm honey, huckleberry, and melon, with balanced acidity and perhaps hints of white pepper. Noticeably absent is the classical crisp apple and caramel flavours of many chardonnays. This is a stunning two dimensional wine, that will likely continue to evolve and expand. Certainly one of the nicest Chardonnay’s I have tasted.

Maison Louis Latour Tasting with Louis-Fabrice Latour (Capital Grille, NYC): Color is clear and golden - darkest of all the whites tasted today. Side by side with the '15 - the nose is much more muted here - similar aromatics (burned match, apples and buttery pastry) but far more subdued. On the palate this is a bit more elegant than the '15, not quite as rich, but it also is less demonstrative so for me a hair less enjoyable.

This is much better than the last bottle. Light in body, full and complex in aroma, flavor and finish. Needs some time in the glass -- the genie needs to explore life outside of the bottle. Flavors of honey, lemon, cream, and pineapple. Nice and not over stated like a heavy CA wine.

Chicago Wine Flock...Krengels compare New vs Old World (Casa Krengel - Bannockburn IL): Tasted double blind. Rich apple, toasted almonds, lemon curd with good+ weight and very good balance. Easily identified as white Burg, I thought it was a good Meursault 1er Cru from a moderately ripe vintage. This was my favorite of the flight to start, but I slightly preferred LeMoine 2010 Bâtard-Montrachet when re-tasted several hours later.

2010 LOUIS LATOUR CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU- this was an atypical bottle with more of a Chablis like character; it had a flinty nose and a streak of minerals running throughout; there was mild lemon notes in the perfume and beyond; light in weight, it had an elegance and finesse about it; missing the expected power of this GC, I`m wondering if this as an example of a corked wine prior to the wet cardboard notes?

Louis Latour -Technical tasting (Stellenbosch): (Tasted Blind) Louis Latour's Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a slightly richer style than Bonneau du Martray, despite being from a cooler area towards Pernand Vergelesses. It is aged with 50% new and 50% second-fill barrels. Mid-yellow to gold colour offering notes of minerals, meat, cotton wool and crushed rocks. A robust, attractive entry with plenty of minerals and crushed rocks played against the crisp horizontal acidity. Intense and powerful with a richer core, this does lean slightly towards a commercial side, feeling less incisive, precise and concentrated than expected for Corton-Charlemagne—pleasant flavours of dried peach halves and tangerine on the close.

Beautiful wine. Intense, rich, yet never felt heavy. So balanced. The descriptors other tasters have used here are very accurate, this wine was just full of white flowers on the nose. Can't say enough good things about this wine.

Master class and dinner at Maison Louis Latour (Château Corton-Grancey in Corton, actually tasted on 23 March 2016): This showed very well, echoing the 2014 tasted earlier in this flight, with white flower and wet stone and pear like juiciness, but perhaps a bit more weight, a bit more dry extract, hence just slightly higher scoring. It has quite a bit of opulence, certainly full bodied, but happily balanced by excellent acidity, and giving off an aspect of delicacy in its impressively long finish. Great vintage!

Andrew and Howard's birthday dinner: A richer, more luxuriant and riper-seeming nose than for the Bonneau du Martray. The expressive bouquet showed florals, tropical fruit and blanched almonds. On palate, the wine showed a lot of power, structure and flesh. Lovely mouthfeel and texture. The flavour profile was also much more at the tropical fruit end of the spectrum than the Bonneau du Martray with creamy and nutty elements. Quite open textured and forward. Seemingly more advanced than the Bonneau du Martray. Drink or hold.

We joined our neighbours for an elegant end of summer dinner at their house. Food was fantabulous and wine wonderful. This outstanding representation of Louis Latour followed the Rion chardonnay/pinot blanc blend. A more transparent yellow. Aromas of toasted almonds and vanilla. Excellent oak, vanilla and caramel on the palate. Nicely dry. Long, mineral finish. Definitely a wine to lay down.

Pretty big bottle of burgundy. Drank at Joe's last night and I would have preferred chablis or sauv. blanc with the stone crabs. This was still great. Straw yellow, thick with unctuous texture. Lending itself to a bit of a CA chard style but not overdone in any way. Enjoyed.

Golden color. Very sharp and precise nose of lemon, lemon curd, hints of oak and stones. Palate is lean and taught showing a nice balance between citrus flowers and light oak and vanilla. Very precise and well made. Many years left.

Huge step up from Criots and Bienvenues, this wine showed much more precision and length. It only got better in the glass. This should hold at least 5 years.

Still young. Hazelnut and oak in the nose. Quite full bodied. More punch than 2011. Both are nice, but for the moment, I like the elegance of 2011.

Minerals, stones, and some toasted wood on the nose. Palate showed finesse and cool climate, with steely mineral, lemon rind, some vanilla and hints of tropical fruit. Very well made and tightly hit.

Very very nice, kept going back to that. Almonds, plenty of richness, definitely a pleasurable wine.

This wine was great! It was super well balanced, nice weight on the palate, very enjoyable. I am happy that I have a second bottle that I will let age for another 5 years.

Shared by a friend at a dinner we attended. Another wow wine with focused intensity of white flowers, lemon zest, toasted almonds. Just a beauty.

We sipped during our Curb Your Enthusiasm Marathon and Tapas Weekend, Day 3. It was a bit unfair to sip after the 2005 Batar, but we gave it some time to open up and it did not disappoint.

Enjoyed.

A big and bold white burgundy, suitable especially for those raised on California premium chardonnay. Lots hazelnuts, floral perfume, and oak, rich mouth feel, good length. Strong on flavor and shy on subtlety. Best now to 2020.

Really ripe apple fruit and anise on the nose. Very tasty with apples. A little fleshy but on the finish the firm structure reminds the taster that this is a Corton Charlemagne, with several excellent years ahead of it.
