After an hour of air and closer to room temperature, this developed into a nice creamy wine with notes of almond cream, egg custard, grapefruit, fig, honey, gooseberry, fennel, toast, and peaches. I’d like a little bit more acidic cut, but this is still delicious. My first aged white wine from Pessac, so I don’t know how to compare it with others, but this seems very good. Nice match with tinned sardines from Spain and a Catalan peach and tomato salad, though it was the goat cheese in the salad that really popped with the wine. Based on other CT reviews, I thought this would be terrible, but I thought it was drinking very nicely right now. To me, it proves that patience with nice bottles of Bordeaux Blanc will be rewarded (though, unfortunately, I didn’t get to try any bottles of this when it was young). Based on this bottle, I’d buy more of this (though it has gotten so expensive). I’m a fan.

Lots of tropical fruits on the nose: mango, pineapple, the latter being predominant. All interwoven beautifully in a rich white wine, but never too heavy. Something reminds me of Montrachet... I know it sounds crazy... Great wine.

Pale straw yellow. Nose and taste of honeysuckle, pear, oak, scallions, onion and even faint notes of sour cream. Pretty strong acidity. Medium to heavy bodied. Pretty viscous. Not a lot of familiarity with this white Bordeaux varietal blend (Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc) but I like it. About 92-93.

Q1 - 2018 Tasting - Aged Barolo Theme (NY, NY): My first time with this wine and I quite enjoyed it. I love the way that bit of Semillion adds something so pretty to the SB. Clean and fresh, with some tropical fruit, white flowers and a touch of honeysuckle, then wet stones. Very enjoyable.

Aged Barolo (aka Q1 wine club) (The Apt): I am learning my way through Bordeaux whites, but finding that they can be very enjoyable. This was SB more in the approach that I like with a bit more honey and white fruits. Didn't take detailed notes and a relatively small pour, but I enjoyed it.

Sauvignon Blanc nose with citrus aromas and some green grass and sweet hints, fresh and light. On the palate these aromas are paired with the typical salty/graphite minerality which gets more intense by the minute. High aroma intensity. I liked this wine better two years ago when it was a chamelon showing creamy, slighty sweet citrus & grass at first, only revealing the sea salt minerality after an hour in the glass. But don't get me wrong, it is still a very good wine, just the surprise effect is gone now that it is maturing.

I opened this for our 9/9/17 White Bordeaux tasting. It had deep, ripe, elegant and expressive bouquet of straw, smoke, pear, gooseberry, guava, apricot, lemon, pineapple, toast and mineral aromas. The palate was rich, dense, elegant and beautifully balanced with flavors of pear, guava, apricot, grapefruit, lemon, lime, toast, mineral, herb and spice. Our group’s WOTN with an average score was 93.8 points.

The '12 is light yellow in the glass, with a wonderfully aromatic nose upon opening. This is a wine getting there slowly, but still has some better years to go. Melon, lychee, citrus, nice acidity. This rings a lot of bells for a white, but I think it's going to be even better down the road.

great potential but even at hour 3 it's hardly changed. I'm sure tomorrow it will be much more expressive. This is probably 5-7 years away from peak. If consuming now I'd recommend decanting or opening several hours beforehand.

As much as I love white wine I have yet to be wowed by white BDX. And, the stuff is fairly expensive to boot. This had the added disadvantage of being very young, tight and mostly a one trick citrus pony with mostly bright out front acid and citrus. Guess I need to at least try these every couple years to insure I don't buy them. This was a PnP and perhaps, at this young age, it should have seen a decant or a lot more air?
A Nice Mix at Spoon & Stable (Spoon & Stable, Mpls, MN): Pale gold color. Drank 1 glass over 45 minutes. Intense nose of cat pee and gooseberries, grapefruit, and pungent florals. The palate is pretty chiseled and bracing, as there's a good bite to the acidity on top of the minerals, gooseberry, lychee and grapefruit. You can see where this is headed as it has the depth and acid, but in my opinion, this is still just too young to fully appreciate. 92pts currently with upside for sure. 92(+)pts.

I'm not an expert in white Bordeaux but this one has this remarkable, very intriguing and highly interesting nose I had with other white Bordeauxs but not really with Loire Valley Sauvignons or NZ ones: you can smell the sea, you have that very salty minerality (with lemon/citrus mixing in). I loved this wine a lot last year, when it revealed this beautiful minerality only after 30mins+ in the glass. The bottle yesterday had it from the beginning. So the surprise effect is no longer there (although it got more intense the longer in the glass). Medium to full bodied, very bright acidity but not too much, beautiful sweetness of the (tropical) fruit to keep it in balance, some vanilla and all in combination with this very fascinating salt, wet stone minerality. No decant needed. Drinks very well right now.

Lush and tropical, like a well oak sb. 5 Sauvignon gris, the 5 semillon and then sb, and oak that bad boy for sure. And then no malo. Gris works it out at 5. Not. Ore it dominates. Less it falls away. 50 years on Sauvignon. Apparently peter sisseck told them to grow Sauvignon Gris so they did. In 93. The 12 is right in he pocket with peach and pink grape fruit. Lots of body and minerality and flint. And the body and grip notes Erin. And yes.

Michael Schuster Fine Wine Course Day 2 (Headspace, Hatton Gardens, London): Pale lemon. Pronounced intensity aromas with the oak (Vanilla, toast) dominating, hints of marzipan and smoke. Very hard to get to the fruit. Dry palate, fresh, medium (+) acidity, high alcohol, (14%), full bodied, pronounced flavours of ripe fruit, black currant leaf, vanilla, toast. Long finish. Very good quality. It has concentration and complexity and length, but it lacks freshness, the oak dominates, and the alcohol is rather too evident. Clearly well made but stylistic wine-making decision to pick so late and to use so much new oak. Has the ability to age further given the structure and concentration and will perhaps improve with time. I'd give it a few more years at least.

Wow, what a great wine!!! Vivacious yellow with hints of green. Opens with floral notes that transitions to a powerful blend of citrus fruits on the nose. More than ready to sip now, but will likely develop into a different wine on the nose in the coming years. The palate demonstrates the fantabulous vibrant balance we always find with SHL. One of our favourite white Bordeaux and a significantly good reason for the existence of Sauvignon Blanc ;-)

25 years of the Cathiards at Smith Haut Lafitte: all magnum verticals (Château Smith Haut Lafitte): The 2013 seems to have more verve than the 2012. Interesting vintage comparison as both have same blend - 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Semillon. While there is certain yellow peach juiciness and citrus aspects, I feel a bit of heat on the finish here that does not exist with the 2013!

Where 2012 did not allow the vineyards potential for producing its complex red, it made up for it in the white wine. This is a lush, glorious, honeysuckle bomb with balanced acidity to make it lip smacking fresh and hard to resist. A must try

The Union Des Grand Crus Tasting of the 2012 Vintage-SF. Blending 90% Sauvignon with equal parts Semillon and Sauvignon Gris, the wine will be aged in 50% new French oak. Grapefruit, lime, lemon, vanilla, guava and banana scents require little effort to find. Rich, fleshy and concentrated with balancing acidity and freshness, the long and fresh citrus finish refreshes and expands. 93-95 Pts
