Better than the last bottle, so - was drinking pretty darn well! Past prime drinking window for sure, but still enjoyable and interesting. Drinks more like a light red than a typical dry provencal-style rose. If scoring, 88 - 90.
Recent auction purchase. Pretty burly rose, as this shows plenty of fruit and acidity. Some prominent bitter notes that bothered me a little bit, but overall, very good.
Drank with MacKenzie's. My last bottle of the 2013's, and perhaps the best. Well rounded and integrated, lacking the overt herbal quality the wine showed when drunk younger.

While it has the structure to age, unfortunately most of the fruit left after last summer. Strong mineral notes & light+ acidity but only a hint of raspberry left. Still a solid/enjoyable wine, just without much fruit. Drink now.

A bit disappointed. Seems like a rose that can't decide what kind of rose it wants to be, fruity, tart, refreshing, or sweet -- it appears to sit in the middle without choosing any one direction. I do agree with other reviews, it did show much better after being open for about an hour. So give this one time.

I was having too much fun to take any detailed notes but I can tell you this is absolutely delicious now and while this was awkward last year when it was released, it is terrifically refreshing now. Darker hued than I remembered and with richer flavor than a typical rose, but just a great mix of fruit, spice, acid and just the tiniest hint of tannin.

Waited a year to open this and it seems to have held up well. A deeply fruited wine with good balancing acidity. Strawberry and pomegranate. Seems to come and go fairly quickly on the palate, however.

I found it somewhat undistinguished, heavier, lacking in personality. ..possible that my expectations have been formed by Provencal and Tavel rose's and this is how Ca rose' is supposed to taste. If so - not my thing.

Once again -- so much better than the 2 bottles I drank in 2014. This is a rose that definitely needed a year to integrate. The herbal element was subdued, yet the wine still showed some pop. Tasty!

Better than last year at this time, this (like most rose's) actually benefits (in my opinion) from short term cellaring. The rewards of waiting? You have a perfect spring wine, dry and strawberry in its flavor profiles, with plenty of food-friendly acidity and the fruit flavors in check. I like it on release--like it better one year on. Perfect with a French lentil salad with goat cheese and walnuts. NB: don't serve this ice cold. Let it warm slightly from the fridge, or you will get no flavors at all, just a dry neutral wine.

Popped this to brighten up an otherwise somewhat dreary day. Nice match for fried catfish and coleslaw, and it was interesting to see how this has changed since last year. What I remember from last summer is a somewhat "soft" texture with juicy red berry fruit flavors. This year, the wine was definitely leaner with less fruit and more prominent acid - felt and tasted more like a white than a rose. I let this age a year on purpose as an experiment, and it was interesting to see the result, though in the end I preferred this on the fresher side last year.

Golden red in glass. Aroma of saline that extends to strawberries. Nice refreshing wine with taste of strawberry and tart cherry, wife calls it not quite ripe kiwi. The tartness went very well with chicken and asparagus stirfry.

Not sure why, but this really hit the spot tonight, and appeared better than the 2 previous bottles we've consumed. Not sure if it was ageing or simply the company. Drank during Patriots' dismantling of the Colts.

Deep salmon with an orange tinge. Fresh saline aroma with a strawberry note. Coats the palate with an even layer of sweet dry fruit, like dried peach or apricot, low on acid, gathering intensity towards the back for a refreshing finish. 55+11+15+8.

Third Thursday blind tasting group - Mourvedre's (Mike's) (11/20/2014): Not especially complex, but very easy to drink with fresh strawberry and cranberry fruit over a mineral base, all conveyed on a gentle, lightweight frame. It feels a touch soft on the back end, but it's still very refreshing and fun.

Mourvedre (TTTG blind tasting): Color is a beautiful, fairly-light rose. Light-bodied, pretty, strawberry. Quite dry. Perhaps a bit of mineral on the palate. Finish of strawberry and grapefruit. Quite enjoyable. Substantially better than the 2013 Tempier (Bandol) rose had alongside it. Good.
One day update: Very pretty nose of strawberry, flowers; reasonable length.

My first Bedrock of any kind, and a pretty big disappointment. I couldn't help but think an intern (or two) screwed up, as this was just not that well made. Powdered strawberry extract, and aluminum, on the nose and palate. Not any better with food. Bitter, unbalanced; just screamed rookie to me. Perhaps an off bottle. 12,3% abv
PnP, served non-blind over 2 nights.

Much better than the bottle I had in May. This year's bottling is more Tavel than Bandol, if that makes sense. A bigger and richer version of the Ode to Lulu, and really quite nice in its style.

My first of three bottles. I didn't take any formal notes, but this was really good. Some bright and juicy fruit flavors balanced with decent acidity and crispness. Very easy to sip. Wish I had more, and looking forward to how it does day two.

Last year I didn't care that much for this wine (i.e., the 2012). I felt it was a bit too forward and too fruity. This year I really enjoyed it. For me, this is nicely balanced, a little more restrained, with good minerality and nice strawberry fruit. This should be even better next summer.

This rosé is a blend of Mourvedre, Carignan and Grenache. In the glass, it is dark salmon with a bouquet of watermelon and orange. On the palate, it is bone-dry and medium-bodied with the same watermelon and orange, as well as strawberry. The mid-palate offers a creamy mouth-feel. It has a lengthy, tart finish with discernible, but subtle spices including cardamom and white pepper. Addendum, this is that rare rosé that actually opens up with a short decant; accordingly, I would expose it to a few hours of air and serve it slightly chilled, but not near freezing, to better reveal the subtle spice notes. My roommate, who has a better palate than mine, also remarked on how much the Ode to Lulu had improved with a little air, prompting me to delete my comment in this tasting note that I actually preferred the more "Bandol-like" earlier vintages of the wine.

I don't really understand what all the angst over this wine is about. I really enjoyed the smooth mouthfeel and expression of strawberry and dark berry fruit. Yes, I could have stood for it to be a bit crisper with more acidity, but it's still delicious.

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Day and Thai Food.: cotton candy nose, but spice and red fruit. floral. good acidity, light, touch of grip on the finish to keep it fresh, pretty, mostly dry mid with a hint of sweetness toward the finish. I am not a Rose person. I dont get the point - i can have a Kabinett for less and love it 2x as much. this was very nice and if it was the wine to drink on a lovely day in the backyard or at a party - with some light lunch - i would be happy to drink it. but i doubt i would buy it.

Definitely differences from the 2012. More structure, tannins and savory notes compared to the fruit forward 2012. A more "serious" dry rose. Not necessarily better or worse but different.

I understand the winemaker's vision when describing the 2013 vs. the 2012. This wine is indeed not as delicate, instead, with a bold first of fruit up front. I can see why Parker adored it. There is definite suave and finessse in the finish of the wine, with minerality and reasonable length for a rose, but ultimately a bit too one-note to be worth $20+.

Good wine; poor QPR. Fruity on the palate as one would expect from the color--about a 4 on a 1 to 5 scale of rose wines, but finishes dry. Cranberry juice in profile with a touch of herb. Pleasant but lacks the sophistication and delineation we just had from a $17 Bandol (this wine is from mourvedre).

4th of July Weekend Wines - Lots of 'em; 7/3/2014-7/7/2014 (Northeast Ohio): Another very good Rose from Bedrock. This is the third vintage I think I have tasted and all of them have been very good. Light pink in color, pretty. The nose has nice sour cherries. Nice acidity. Very refreshing. Easy to drink outside on a warm evening. No bitterness that can sometimes be an issue with rose's.

The 2012 version was a classic. It had so much of the French Bandol flavor. The 2013 is a very different take. I like the 2012 much better. I think I've had every vintage. The '12 was more delicate and refined.

Drank alongside the '12, it is amazing to see the difference in color simply attributable to vintage, as the grape sources are pretty much the same I believe. The '13 is deep reddish pink while the '12 is pale salmon orange. The '12 shows a lot of pit fruit character (white peach) while the '13 is more red-fruited (strawberry). I prefer the elegance of the '12, which is a lot more similar to a Bandol rosé.

Drank it along side with the Virage 2013 Rosé. It has its' strong points, but for me the Virage is the winner (YMMV). Color is very dark compare to other Rosé I had before. It does seem like it is going through oak as well during the prep. process. It is a bit more bitter for my taste (especially compared with the Virage) and it is more on the sweet side. You can feel the pink grapefruit (pretty dominant) and berries. It is a good one on its own, while the Virage is a wonderful companion for a meal or reception. Nice rosé if you prefer slightly stronger ('in your face'?) rosé. I can drink them both, but my preference is towards the Virage.

Attractive clear peach/pink color. Fresh, strawberry, nose. Slight strawberry taste continues on the tongue, but then other fruits—peach and, even, lemon—arise. Terrific acid makes this a very refreshing summer sip.

A very well made bottle of Mourvèdre Rose. Not as sweet as Provençal Rose which is often predominantly Grenache. Has good grip and a nice acid backbone.
This was popped n poured and it did improve with some air time but if served blind, would think it's from Bandol.

I needed to see what the fuss is about, and this is a very well made rose! Perfect summertime sipping in the SoCal sunshine. It's very charming and pretty, with bright, juicy berry notes up front, but it's also deceptively sophisticated with depth on the palate while still being weightless. The wine equivalent of a pretty, feminine summer dress.

Thought the 2012 was far better than this. The 2013 was more sweet, gummy, and SWEET. Had some nice floral notes on the mid-palate, but I had trouble getting past the sweetness.

Color: Relatively dark. Halfway between salmon and tuna, with a burnished tint.
Nose: Pretty quiet and subtle. A touch of strawberry and raspberry fruit, but the little bouquet this has is mostly mineral and spice, with a gunpowder flintiness and some cinnamon. There's also maybe a bit of rose petal and a whiff of VA or cideriness. But this is all really grasping for aromas; the main impression on the nose is of not much.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and rather hard.
Palate: Minimal here, too. Again mostly just faint mineral, some acidity, and a dry finish with a touch of peppery spice.
This was not impressive. Not much expression or generosity on either the nose or the palate, and just nothing to hold interest. Not faulty or offensive, easy to drink, and would be versatile with food because it doesn't have enough flavor to interfere with anything, but that's about the best I can say about it.

I love these wines. Had with fried chicken. It seems early in the summer to be drinking one when I only have 6....... Very light, floral, subtle fruit... This needs air. Did not stand out after pop n' pour a couple of nights go and had been under VacuVin since. Just poured the last (large) glass and it's right nice now. Stinky sweet on the nose and a full, fruity palate. Quite good.

The translucent red tells the tale of an Ode to Lulu that is much larger than prior years; darker in color, bigger in body, bigger flavors and lacking in the subtlety I prefer in a rose. From my perspective this was a miss from the subtle and delicate prior versions.

First of three bottles (though my second taste due to the generosity of the friend who shares his spot on the list with me). Much darker than previous vintages. Love that it's coming in at 12%, a true summer wine. Found this to be more muted than past years. I know the blend changed, would love to see this head back into paler territory with a bit more acid. Juicy and smooth, but not as memorable. Still one of the best domestic roses available.

Really nice Rose, but I think it needs an hour of air to really start to show its stuff. We did a pop and pour and the last sip was the best by far. Also agree that it shows better closer to room temperature.

I think this was fairly reduced when opened (a bit under cellar temp); some sulfur issues (a bit of rubber, funky), alcohol was poking through on the finish, and it seemed clumsy. The reduction wasn't going away over the course of a couple hours, though it faded a bit. I was not enjoying it. Put the screwcap back on and stuck it in the fridge hoping for the best the next day.
On day two the reductive notes had receded, and what was left was a much more enjoyable rosé, with some heft and substance, but not at all overbearing. Really quite nice. Won't open another one until summer is in full swing.

Lovely rose, not your usual quaffing rose, this wine had character, medium mouth feel, smooth and well balanced. Balance seems to be the dominate characteristic of Bedrock wines. Glad I have more bottles.
Orange tinged medium-pink color with lifted wild red strawberry, cherry, chalk, white pepper and a hint of floral aromas. On the palate, medium-bodied and fresh with wild strawberry, sour cherry, a bit of raspberry, and spice flavors underscored with an appealing minerality. Clean, lingering finish. Blend of mostly ancient plantings of Mourvedre from Bedrock and Pagani Ranch vineyards, with the rest a blend of dry-farmed Grenache Gris planted in the 1880’s at Gibson Ranch in McDowell Valley and Carignane planted in the 1950’s from Ukiah. All except the Grenache Gris were whole-cluster pressed. Definitely shows more heft than the '12, which I like. Some wines are love at first sip. This one wasn't, but it grew on me with each sip. 12.3% alcohol.

This went fast. More color, fruit and heft than 2012. Has its unmistakeable Mourvèdre perfume on the nose. The addition of Grenache this year really stepped up the flavor with lots of strawberry and watermelon notes. Came a cross a wee bit flabby as I am a big acid lover and this was shy. Nonetheless very refreshing, really enjoyed it.
Postscript: In speaking with Morgan I have found that the pH of the '13 is identical to the '12 and it also has more acid. Just not coming to the forefront at this time. Might have to change my drinking window a bit.

Drank with John & Tiffany as 4th bottle of night. Pulled from refrigerator and PNP, with bottle left out at room temp. A fairly simple rose, with lots of floral, red berry, and tart acidity. I can see why this rose is so divisive -- it is not a standard easy-drinking Cali rose, and has some elements some may not like (quite herbal, for example). That said, it worked well as an end of night wine.

I sampled this over two nights. The nose really shut down on night two, so the description is based really upon night one. I don't know if this needs to sit in bottle until summer or really should be drank all in one sitting. I will likely not open another until June and will update my notes accordingly.
Nose: notes of strawberry and grapefruit followed by beautiful notes of roses. Very perfumed and pretty on the nose, if a little straight forward. I agree with other commenters that while the mid-palate has nice acid and is easy to drink, it is a little flat.
But, I think this is a great summer quencher. Gorgeous notes on the nose, nice acidity, and easy to drink. Everything I am looking for in a light summer rose.

Bedrock Pickup Day (Sonoma, CA): As others have noted, darker color than previous years. Pretty aromatics and nice strawberry fruit balanced by citrus. Medium bodied and more structured than previous vintages, especially the lean, elegant '12. Midpalate tannins made this a bit awkward for my taste. But I'm withholding judgment, Chris & Morgan suggested that bottling really changed the flavor profile. I'll give my bottles at least a couple of months and possibly a decant.

My third vintage of Ode To Lulu, every year has been a little different but all immensely enjoyable. For the 2012, I had to go to a color wheel to figure out the color as "coral pink" (a pink-orange shade). Strawberry and citrus on nose and palate, medium-to-high acidity. A very good rose.

Bedrock's 2012 was one of the best Rose wines that I have ever had from anywhere in the world, but the 2013 misses the mark. It has an odd nose that I can't place and the mid palate is uninteresting.

Literally, got the shipment and put in fridge to drink on day 1. Darker in color than last years version, and the first sip had me worried, but it came around. Has more structure and backbone than the '12, flavors of peach and nectarines. It's not as dainty as the '12 but shows promise for a good summer rose, but might not be able to top last years effort.

Off the truck PNP on Friday, finished Saturday. Much darker than earlier renditions, centered on ruby, and generally more substantial. Started out from refrigerator temp unhinged, over-extracted and showing ETOH flavors, but showed better with air, food, and warmer serving temperatures. I think I liked previous versions more but this is no slouch. This should last through through summer 2015.

It feels a touch soft on the back end, but it's still very refreshing and fun.

One day update: Very pretty nose of strawberry, flowers; reasonable length.

Day 2 (stored in fridge, no gas, no vacuum): Heat calmed down a bit, more fruit but still not super enjoyable.

I guess this needs a bit of time - took two days in the fridge to come together.

Darker in color than its dry, bright flavors would suggest this is only going to get better over time. At the moment it's full of zingy acidity, dry berry flavors and aromas, and a chalky finish.

Following the advice of @jayaallen, let it warm up to room tempature and this made all the difference. A more refined rose this year!

This is not a wine to be chilled and killed. More of the wine's flavors became apparent as the wine came up to room temperature. I'll pay better attention next time ...

A bit flat overall. Expected a little more acidity and more on the nose, especially given the hype on Bedrock.

Popped and poured with grilled tilapia. Aroma has some strawberry and some earthiness. Taste has watermelon and strawberry - the sweetness of the fruit comes out, but is moderated by some earthy flavors.

This is going to be great this summer, wish I bought a bit more. It's a bit simple yes, but very well balanced with some interesting underlying flavors. Won't last long but who cares.

Still early at this point. No real nose yet and mid palate is missing some personality.

Tasted at pickup day. I really enjoyed this. Bone dry. Nice acidity balanced by a solid fruit mid palate.i wouldn't hesitate to buy this rose.

Pobegaed. Strawberries, kiwi and lime. Held its own against some sashimi. Preferred the '12 version
