French white 2014 is a superb vintage; quite light in colour - does not show much age; rounded nose and expression with good acidity, it took a while for the wine club people to guess it was Chardonnay and Chablis (sauvignon blanc and Loire was mentioned); really good - as was the case with other French whites 2014 that evening.

Bouguerot? 92+?

Un Repas en Cuisine - GD host (City Club FW - Chef's Table): Tasted single blind - this wine was lovely. light gold in the glass, definitely chardonnay on the nose, with lemon, citrus, and oak. Bright and high acid on the palate, and an amazing paring with the sole meuniere. Just a perfect pairing - each made the other better. Guessed a 5-7 year old Chablis.

I like my Chablis with some age to it and was a bit hesitant to open a 2014 GC, but I couldn’t find my stash of 2010’s and was short on time so grabbed this. No regrets! On the nose just starting to show some cheese rind and nuts but still has all the youthfull fruit. Green apples, lemon, lime, tulip stems, white flowers and a lovely, delicate minerality. On the palate incredible energy and an almost zen-like focus. Absolutely perfect balance! Pebbles in a stream minerality. So clean! The fruit is there as well of course, supported and comforted by an emerging complexity: cheese on buttered bisquits, orange rind, fresh almonds, a touch of herbs, I could go on but there is really no point. Suffice to say this is one of the best Chablis I’ve had the privilige to drink. Wonderful stuff from the best vintage this side of the millennium. Will last the better part of a lifetime.

Cracked this open last night, when it was really quite tight. Revisited today, some 16 hours later, it is showing better. Color is still quite pale yellow, so this is aging nicely and slowly. Nice creamy citrus fruit in the nose. Very crystalline palate impression. Still tight but showing more generous fruit, lemon/lime, minerals, with bracing acidity that should keep this in good stead for many years to come. Sorta wish I woulda waited a bit longer on this because while good now, it should improve with more time. Good complexity even now. 5-13-16-9: 93/100.

Saline and oystershell minerality and lemon on the nose. Intense mineral palate with with GC weight and concentration. I like this as much, if not more than a 2014 Dauvissat Preuses, which I had the other night.

Decanted just before serving. Served in Zalto Universal.
Clean, elegant and harmonious. Some orchard fruit and some light seashell notes. Only medium intensity, both on the nose and palate.
Served blind, but one of my guests accidently saw the top of the bottle. Being quite familiar with the Fevre range, he was sure this must have been the Vaillons.
Sadly the guess was not a bad one. This is a nice and elegant wine, but it does not currently carry the weight or complexity expected from a top GC in a great vintage. I’ll try again in a few years.

Medium strong notes on the nose and palate of lemon/lime, tart peach, rocky minerality, white flowers and oyster shells. Light yellow, medium+ bodied, medium legs. Powerful acidity, and with its 12.5%, lip smacking refreshment. Tremendous intensity, VG++ persistence, VG+ complexity. The only thing I can liken this to after the Kings Farm ‘12 chard is the Scandavian routine of jumping into the snow after a scorching sauna; if a slap in the face can ever be pleasant, this was it, bringing my palate back to life. This was likewise the yin to the KF’s yang with the sea bass, bringing out the savory aspects in the dish (again, kudos to Alex for preparing a wondrous meal!), but it would have shone at least equally with our sushi starter. Tastes like it’s just starting its prime drinking window, but if you’re like me and consider angularity a virtue, popping it now is completely defensible. I’ve had at least a half dozen, and probably a good bit more, of Fevre’s Chablis bottlings across numerous vintages, and this was as good as it gets. 40 years after my dad pushed any number of Chablis on me that seemed to do nothing so much for me other than make my mouth pucker, I finally get it. Too bad my dad’s not around to enjoy this TN.
Medium- intense nose, some reduction. Stony mineral, lime and lime skin, chalk, followed by subtle lemon curd and yellow orchard fruits coming through. Light oak spice.
On the palate lemon and lemon skin, saline air, and string minerality.
Medium- alcohol, medium- body, medium+ acidity. The wine is delicate on the palate and at first, nothing stands out. Over time, as you work it you can coax out the delicate aromas.
When drinking side by side with more extraverted wines, this wine comes across as quiet, but on its own you can appreciate the beautiful subtlety and delicate balance. This is a great wine to pair with quality edomae sushi.

Great nose, full of shellfish and tons of ocean, lifted and permeating, swampy Fevre signature earthiness, river rocks and shitake mushroom. Pure. This word kept coming back to me over and over, during the 90 minute decant to the last sip – the very essence of a great GC Chablis. Obviously this is still a baby, and while it did feel a bit bound up and tight, there was clearly enough showing to get a good feel for what will unfurl in due time. Ne’er could one find even a drop of anything resembling some type of fruit characteristic or trait; instead, this was a pristine sheet of minerals with just the right amount of supporting oceanic salinity and acidity. Again, it was still bound up a little so the palate coverage while respectable should really unfurl with another 4 to 10 years(?). I was completely under this Classical Chablis spell.

PnP. Very clear light golden colour. Inviting nose of lemon , lime, oystershell, Granny Smith, lemon zest, salt and flintstone. Green melon and qumquats added on the palate. Great energy and balance , cutting acidity, but at the same time well rounded. Very fine. Drink or hold.

A bit smoky, interesting raw mushroom note on the nose, quite delicious, medium intensity and depth up front, taut and lithe, then a wash of umami saline, finally turning more chalky mineral on the medium long finish. This note is from day two, though the wine hasnt changed much, if anything it’s a little stronger than day one.

Zoom tasting with the wine group; 10/22/2020-10/23/2020 (Zoom): Tasted blind. Light green-yellow; high intensity aromatics, sulfur and reduction; palate is full bodied, richly textured despite high acidity, green apple, balanced medium alcohol, some minerality. Seems like a minerally-styled white burgundy, possibly Chablis, youthful, needs air and time. Seems promising. 91-92

Intense nose of oystershell, gunpowder, flint and lime. On the palate intense and concentrated but at the same time light, racy and elegant with piercing acidity and loads of energy. Salted lemon and lime, hints of green apples, unripe melon and some fresh herbs. Add a ton of chalky, smokey minerals and a good finish and you end up with a top shelf Chablis. Still young but already very, very good.

Tasted over 2 hrs, extra long cork -translucent light-med gold green -almost timid mild reduction lemon -med+ acidity sneaks in on the finish like a sucker punch, med weight initially soft fading lemon that then builds into a sappy mineral intensity, trace oxidative note -this is OK but frankly a bit disappointing for the cru and the vintage, may be an off bottle- the oxidative note is a bit worrisome

Aromas of vanilla and butterscotch that follows through in the flavor. Perhaps a bit too much oak, but nice complexity with tart apple and a hint of marshmallow. All in all an odd bottle.
very nice Bougros CdB... lots of lift, as you would expect from '14 chablis... I've noticed that the Fevre wines are corked with synthetic corks of some kind, and I've also noticed that the older ones ('12's for example) are still light on their feet (that wasn't the case with my '07's and '08's)... wondering if they have beat the premox thing... would be lovely to see how this tastes in ten years??
Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No

wow... the first of six bottles, and this thing is WOW!!... super young, with massive lift and tension... saw a note mentioning butterscotch (which makes me think premox) but this one was high and tight with loads of acidity, minerals and lemons... just what we like... perhaps time to buy another 6 or 12... I've been pleasantly surprised at the zero premox rate on W. Fevre I've had recently (tho truth be told, I don't let them get past 8 years or so)
Really is too young. Light, with citrus notes, mildly creamy, with a slight butterscotch taste at the end. If it survives prem ox, it could turn into something exceptional.

Rett ut av flasken og servert noe kald. Tang og kjølige aromaer av lys sitron. Sjøsprøyt og salt stein. Mest mineralsk nese. Sjark, etter mer temp i glasset. M+ intens. Medium+ fyldig anslag. Høy syre. Sitronbitt i midtparti. Ganske streng mineralsk underliggende kraft her. Veldig ung vin. En fyldig chablis. Stein og sjø. småsøt sitron men salt salt og syrlig finnish. Tang. Lang. Meget god vin.

Lys blek gul farge.

I feel betwixt and between on this wine... felt pretty darn good on the pnp, then a few hours later not as good, then gassed and fridged the last third and liked it more again on night two... hmmm... hope to be able to provide more clear perspective on the next bottle (still have five more left)

An exceptional Chablis noteworthy for its great purity and minerality. Lemon curd, a spritz of lime, flinty stones, with a clean cut on the finish.

Strong minerality that could've been mistaken for reduction. An exceedingly long, tensile finish that bodes well for cellaring. This is Chablis!

Tasted over 2 hrs
-translucent pale green-yellow
-oyster shell sea breeze algae with a bright citrus and faint reduction
-med+ acidity, med weight sappy intense but stony cool green fruit decent complexity, excellent length
-this bottle is singing now very fresh yet also somewhat mellowed from a few years ago - no longer painfully intense, the last bottle must have been flawed as this one is just stellar

Un excellent Chablis Grand Cru. Certes on pourrait patienter et attendre davantage de complexité mais en lisant les notes sur CT, je sais que certains ont eu de la premox donc je préfère ne pas risquer.

Tasted over 2 hrs, extra long cork

-this is OK but frankly a bit disappointing for the cru and the vintage, may be an off bottle- the oxidative note is a bit worrisome

I've noticed that the Fevre wines are corked with synthetic corks of some kind, and I've also noticed that the older ones ('12's for example) are still light on their feet (that wasn't the case with my '07's and '08's)... wondering if they have beat the premox thing... would be lovely to see how this tastes in ten years??

wow... the first of six bottles, and this thing is WOW!!... super young, with massive lift and tension... saw a note mentioning butterscotch (which makes me think premox) but this one was high and tight with loads of acidity, minerals and lemons... just what we like... perhaps time to buy another 6 or 12...

Pnp; Very tight nose, loads of chalky minerality, salinity, oystershell, with a hint of lemon zest. Medium plus to high acidity, citrus dominates, mineral core, wet stones, super wound up and tight. A little warmth on the back end, lengthy green apple finish. Needs time or air, possibly both, still a baby. 92+

Intense and painfully young on opening, as one would expect. Very tight with acidity that will strip the enamel off your teeth. Time in the decanter opened this up, and day two worked wonders bringing out the power and richness I would expec5 from this vineyard. Try again in two years.

Pitched with acidity but has a lot of other raw material to balance things out. I think this will be rocking in 4-5 years.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Apple, Meer lemon and lemon peel with excellent concentration. Rich without seeming ripe. An elegant finish, perhaps slightly backward for right now. Once again I prefer this over les Clos.

Blind Chablis Tasting (River Forest, IL): Tasted blind in Chablis tasting. Very bright and tart, clearly too young for near-term maximized pleasure. Lemon and lime flesh and zest. Very good concentration, very long finish. Better in a few years. Another wine I fully expected to enjoy more than the group. My #2 wine tonight, the group's #6.
