Riesling bash at CHIKO (Chevy Chase, Maryland): Tangy, primary, but so energetic, lots to unpack from this well-wrapped package. Lime zest, ruby red grapefruit, kiwi, the fruit is mixed with complex minerals, smashed rocks and shells. Has lovely textural depth, balancing out the racy and laser-like focus, briskness, and minerality. A bit too young to fully parse through, especially in such an overwhelming setting, but wow this will be good for the long haul.

A standout dry riesling amongst dozens of rieslings in the room (and also delivered way more intrigue than its older sibling, an '07 Kirschpiel). The rocky mineral elements are strong in this one and the aroma in the glass is like sticking your nose into a basalt mine. The fruit per the usual Keller house style is pure, pale, and zesty but it's in a nice spot where it's still quite fresh but without the punishing acid attack of young Keller.

Opened at the Victuals in HK. Decanted and chilled and enjoyed over dinner.
It's always a pleasure to convert Riesling-skeptic friends into Riesling fans. Keller once again shows its class, with a beguiling combination of floral notes, citrus fruits, hints of petrol backed by great acidity. Just a gorgeous GG, and the 2015 is in a very good spot right now.
Can definitely stay at this level for a while, and may improve slightly with a bit of patience as well, judging by how much I have been enjoying the 2011 GGs recently. However, don't hesitate to drink up if you have these!

Light yellow gold with green tint. Lime, green apple, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, yellow peach, white flowers, oyster shell, honey and minerality. Hint of kerosene on the nose. High acidity and balanced. Edgy and good tension on the palate: A sip was like a cluster bomb exploding deep into my taste buds. Very long dry, astringent finish. Youthful and bright. This would last for decades in a proper cellar.

Tuesday (Chicago, IL): Only had one of these lying around, and nature abhors singletons, so I decided to just pop and drink it. Probably should have bought buckets of this -- I think Keller really hit it out of the park with the 2015 vintage and this bottle is no exception. Typical Keller richness, but so very balanced with its lime zest, fruit, and minerality.

Less ripe and exotic than expected, with a fresh youthful twist of lime and basil. The build is remarkably sinewy and elegant, with bright firm acidity masking any residual sweetness or alcohol, and salty/steely mineral sensations leading out in a long, slightly grapefruit-bitter finish. An outstanding, surprisingly restrained Hubacker that could use a few years more to reach its prime drinking window.

As always, Hubacker is a very well-made and extraordinary riesling GG. Needs more time to show off, but everything is there. Layers of delicious fruit, laser-focused acidity and a compelling finish. However, at this stage I only give it 93 in rating, but I expect this to be in the >95 range with 5–10 years of further cellaring. 93+

On first pour it was a bit flat. Decanted. Over the ensuing two hours, this continuously opened up, showing more acidity and elegance. Moderate aromas of tropical fruits, lime, and petrol. Seductive. Similar flavors perfectly balanced with acidity, with a bit of tingling, with a moderately length lingering finish of lime. Medium+ body with a bit of waxy texture. Lots of flavor, but also very elegant. Drinking very well now.

Drank at d'Oude Schuur. This was absolutely lovely. Showed both exotic fruits (but not overly ripe) and the lean preciseness of Riesling that I love. Lime, passion fruit, chalky minerality, lemon zest, grapefruit. This was dry, but must have some residual sugar. The finish was long and pure ecstasy.

Flickinger dinner (Chicago, IL): #43-16, 13% abv. No denying that this is heady, ripe, and incredibly intense. There's so much extract here it's mindboggling. Clearly borne of a very ripe vintage, this has incredibly intense fruit in both length and breadth. Chewy minerality on the finish, this is a crazy, intense bottle of wine that reminds me a bit of how the Abtserde drank early on. Wish I had bought more of this, especially given how insanely well this is showing right now.

Tasting in Germany during a brief COVID interlude - November/December 2021; 11/19/2021-12/2/2021 (Germany - Schwanau/Monschau): 94-95pts. Expensive for a German Riesling at this quality point, but all KPKs are (unfortunately). However, I'd rather drink this bottling than the Kirchspiel from this vintage. Herbal, balanced, with good energy and freshness. Citric on the nose, zesty, long, with a long life ahead. I thought this would be overshadowed in this tasting by KPK's Abtserde from the 2016 vintage, but this was definitely not the case - they offer the same pleasure. Hold.

SLDS January BBQ: Powerful nose - roses, pomegranate, pineapple, apple, lime and talc - opulent but also a mineral streak that compliments the oomph of the fruit nicely. Rich fruit on the palate, with the ripeness never losing control. Delicious wine that brings a wealth of flavour and still finds focus.
This was just killer and surprisingly open on night 1. There is, of course, a ton of acid, but there is enough fruit to balance it out easily. The nose hits you like a ton of Riesling textbooks After a day and half open (and at room temp) the acid became a bit overpowering.
Maybe we didn't give it enough time but this came across as very closed and mute. Mostly just acid and minerals. Hard to tell what was underneath. Sure, it was still quite enjoyable but I was hoping for a better showing. I guess (hope) this will open up some with cellaring.
This the first 2015 Keller GG we've opened, after having spent a great deal of time and effort (not to mention a few shekels) securing quantities what's been released thus far from KP. Fortunately, with the Hubacker and Kirchspiel at least, we feel we have enough to taste a few young. Hubacker has always been, in my opinion, the vineyard he struggles with the most. My understanding is that soil differences from the other GG vineyards can lead to the Hubacker often being too broad, undefined and a bit flabby, not just in message, but in feel, without the mind-blowing precision and clarity of the other GGs. This bottle though, suffered none of those issues. It was by far the best Hubacker I've ever had - and I've had them back to '02. It was truly dynamite all around. The nose was almost delicate, pure and haunting, with white peach notes dominating, plumed with white flowers and hints of citrus. Then in the mouth, it was taught (which is not in this case a euphemism for "restrained"), elegant, complex, dancing a Seven Veils of revelation on the tongue. The broad lychee fruit I often get from Hubacker was still present, but much more restrained and blended in with the stony peach and grapefruit skin, which I normally don't get from Hubacker. Acid is spot on, giving a sprightliness in the mouth which absolutely delighted me, and with crystalline minerality. The finish lingered without really fading, just getting quieter and quieter so I almost couldn't tell when it finally stopped. It was sensational. A joy to drink. I know Hubacker has been improving in recent vintages, and I am not foolish enough to think "this is what Hubacker is now!" The vintage is clearly lifting the wine and giving the material a real helping hand. I know I don't really care why it's so good, I'm just grateful to be able to drink it.
Glass: Riedel Sommelier Chianti Clear, pale golden yellow. Medium-, youthful and completely closed nose which opens up a bit over time and offers herbal and chalky notes behind a wall of citrus fruit. Bone dry. This wine screams with every sip: Leave me alone for the next 5-10 years! Elegant, lots of minerality (chalk), powerful, ripe and well integrated acidity, focused, precise, very long. This is a stunner in the making, so give it at least 5-10 years of development and you will be greatly rewarded. At the moment: 92

Glass: Riedel Sommelier Chianti
Clear, pale golden yellow.

Less delicate than Kirchspiel GG, a bit more power and boldness. Very ripe fruit, herbal notes and minerality on the nose. Amazing balance and length. Fantastic. 96-97+
