Like other recent reviewers I found this way down the hill , drinkable but a shadow of greatness , a victim of pre mox and in a batch of 3 put up at auction cynically by an in the know drinker, the perils of buying at auction , but this shows why great value exists at auctions of older whites.

Jadot Dinner with Frédéric Barnier (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Opened 15 minutes before serving. Started off with fairly oxidized aromas, more enjoyable baked apple flavors that were still advanced. Clearly still showing Grand Cru density. This freshened up reasonably with 30 minutes in glass, then started getting tired again after open an hour.

2nd Annual Jadot with Frederic Barnier (RPM Steak): The nose here is initially fairly oxidized but does freshen up a bit with 30-40 minutes in the glass. Better on the palate with mature white fruits and mineral. Decent freshness. Good, but clearly not up to Chevalier standards. This bottle is on the downslope.

Ah well... very disappointing as this had reached the bottom of the hill already. The 1st one was so tremendous that I had high hopes but we still learn through each bottle; drink up a bit sooner the next one! Cheers,

Unfortunately over the top. Maybe it was improperly stored Rusty orange and exuding honey and candies fruit I am fortunate enough to like wine in their oxidative phase The nose atilll had charm and delicacy, the mouth was round and sweetish but not entirely lacking freshness Would be great with cheese

Year end dinner at Jade Palace. Second white in a flight of 4. Deep yellow gold, similar in color to the Amiot Guy. Rich and powerful bouquet of sweetened pineapples, peaches, cream, incense and lemongrass. This also seemed to drink slightly older than its actual age. Good density and length on the palate, but just seemed to lack that bit of acidity. Fruits were showing nicely, opulent and rich. A good food wine.

Annual gathering with Chicago winos in Chicago - Burgs, SQNs and Cult cabs (David Burke's Primehouse): Although two difference sources, this mirrors the last bottle drunk in Jan, 2014. Slightly advanced, ripe yellow fruit, peach, a hint of sherry and caramel. Good concentration, caramel driven palate impression, slightly cloying and also disjointed, and short to medium finish. Absolutely need to be drunk.

Exceptional! Toasted nut, rice cracker and honey on the nose. The complexity was very high. I loved the nutty after taste so much. The balance between elegance and power was just right. Super long finish. A great wine! Thank you Madison Wine Hong Kong for this good condition bottle.

Blind White Tasting with Top 2000 White Burgundy (Les Nomades - Chicago IL): Tasted single blind in the flight, everybody agreed this was the clear star. A wine I've always enjoyed when not oxidized, this was a great bottle. Lush start, powerful throughout, this showed layers of complexity, unfolding with more time in glass, going from ripe and fun towards something more textured and elegant. Very impressive.

One of the most extraordinary wines I have ever had. The color was starting to be deep gold and on the nose, it was simply confusing as each whip it was generating yet another waves of aromas of citrus, and all sorts of it, as well as all sorts of apple, nuts, saline, caramel, flowers at time in a big manner, at other nuanced and subtle, just as a wonderful orchestra would be playing forte and piano with endless waves of colors. Well on the palate, this was huge, oily, rich, incredibly expressive, and YET, perfectly elegant, poised and not a bit heavy at all. Literally each sip was different, the after tastes would fade away and come back as a choral reverbaration and towards the end of the bottle, this had blossomed into a magnificent display of aromas, flavors and textures. A Magnificent showing indeed, of a terroir, a savoir faire, which Jacques Lardiere, as well as Pierre Henry Gagey would be most proud of. In this bottle, one senses the grandeur of nature, a long, very long heritage, an experienced and perfected wine maker's imprints and the combination of this all is going straight into our soul and strike it with a marvelous vibration. I won't forget this wine and evening for a long time. Cheers,

A bit dark on color than the '00 Raveneau. Much sweeter, riper nose with notes of hazelnuts, lemons and chalky minerals. Concentrated and quite ripe with lovely flavors of sweet corn kernel and chalk minerals. The fruit is riper than the Raveneau but not quite as precise. This is delicious, complex and elegant on the back-end with notes of hazelnuts, clove and minerals. Just about perfectly mature.

New Year at Bristol w/Jadots (The Bristol, Chicago): 2000 Jadot Demo Honeyed nose apricot and slight hazelnut pineapple aromas. Rich entry turns into dry apricot with lean quality, slightly bitter finish. Showing its age with some oxidation and likely was better younger, though still quite drinkable. 87

Light yellow in color, was a bit worried when heard abt quite a few premox bottles of this wine and this vintage. Luckily this is more than fine, very fresh citrus nose with apricot and white flowers, medium plus palate with balanced ripe fruit, lots of stony minerals and slight coconut. Interesting mix of a fresh Chevalier nose with a full palate of a Montrachet, terrific.

2000 Vintage Great White Burgundy Dinner (Boka - Chicago IL): Single blind in a great flight of 2000 vintage Chevalier-Montrachet. Slightly floral start with ripe stone fruit aromas. Layered flavors that were more subtle than some of the more hedonistic wines in this flight, but this showed great integration, balance and textures. At a great place today with everything in harmony. I think I liked this more than most in the group tonight.

Quite reticent at first and needed a good hour to start showing itself. Then a soft and subtle wine with nice lemon and mineral flavors but to me, this just didn't deliver the depth and complexity I was looking in a Chevalier. Judgement deferred until the next bottle.

2011 Simple Dinner Series 12 :: M's farewell (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant, The Forum Shopping Mall, Orchard Road): Alcohol :: 13.5% Opened for 6hrs. Meldium golden. Tight when served cold but slowly striped herself in the glass after some swirling and the temperature went up. Beautiful, absolutely captivating aromas that is deep, intense, focus with hoghly complex layer of honeysuckle, creamy butter, almond, hazelnut all intermixed perfectly with the sweet core of red apple, lemon, peaches as well as melon. The juice flowed onto the palate with immense sappiness of bright fruits, nuts and huge mineral, creamy butter note that bring out the Incredible depth. This large scale, classy Chevalier is wrapped in a silky, gorgeous texture with purity, freshness as well as focus and finesse. The highly intense finish is long and lingering. This wine need to be served a little bit more chilled as there was heat appear at the finish when the wine warm up.

Fine nose of sweet peaches, butter-cream, sea water and a hint of hazelnuts. Still quite young and reticent but with air began to show the classic flavors of this vineyard - lemon custard, sweet pear, hazelnut and spices. Has an amazing creamy texture and the finish builds to a very finely concentrated intensity. A rather soft to medium-bodied version of this wine but it's gorgeously elegant, balanced and pure and should be perfect in about 3 more years. 93+

Jadot Chevalier-Montrachet "Demoiselles" Vertical 1989-2004 (Spring - Chicago IL): Another great wine, clearly opened and consumed too young tonight. Lots of rich fruit with an exciting character. Flavors of peach and pear with really good spice. Not quite as good as the bottle our same group had last year, but still powerful and energetic. Like many of the other vintages of Jadot Demoiselles tonight, great floral aromas lingered all night.
