Beautiful deep rich golden color. Nose of tropical fruits, lemons and light toasted hazelnuts. Gorgeous rich mouthfeel with round flavors of pineapple, lemony coconut and papaya with the nuttiness that balances it and a hint of vanilla. Bright acidity keeps it lively for several hours. I wish this wasn't my last bottle!

Initial color is medium yellow-gold, but it quickly deepens in the glass. Aromas of ripe pineapple, butterscotch, and lemon custard. Palate has lemon, cream, butterscotch, and nutty oxidative notes prevading. The finish is long and oxidized. This vintage seemed to age more quickly than past vintages of this flagship. Drink up.

My last two experiences were a bit underwhelming for this but this last, fourth bottle was excellent to outstanding. A bit heavy, almost ponderous, this wine is full bodied and flavorful with strong hazelnut overtones. Classic California Chardonnay in a good way, it was even more expressive on day 2. I think this was at peak 2 years ago, but at 8 1/2 years it is very impressive for Chardonnay.

Pours like oil, in a good way. Still some acidity, and a lot of caramel and toasty flavors. Medium finish. Will need to drink up my remaining 2003s this year.

Medium gold color. Aromas of butterscotch, lemon, and ripe pear. Flavors of vanilla, butterscotch, ripe pineapple, pear, and yellow apple. There is a nut oil element that emerges with airtime and this is teetering on too little acidity to keep it all together, but seems to stay on the right side of the equation to keep it enjoyable. Drink.
