As mentioned a year ago, this has finally reached its drinking window after nearly 30 years, but still neds a few hours in the decanter, and time in the glass to come alive. In fact, I had given this 94/95 when I began the review, but it suddenly sprang into life. The nose is glorious and mature, and unusually sensuous for a La Cases with blackcurrant, plum, and cedar. The palate is well integrated and balanced, but the finish is still carrying residual tannin, which should be addressed as tertiary notes develop.

Four hour decant. Nice fruit at the start with a finish of leather and earthiness. Smooth and tasty but with a bit of a thin mouthfeel given the age. Great time to be drinking it. Still have 8 left.

Decanted about an hour. Consistent with the previous note.
