Still deep maroon color. Smooth and integrated without decant. Palate distinctly earthy, Graves like. Drying tannins peaked in and out after 30 minutes in glass. Lots of flavor.

Everything I like in left-bank Bordeaux ... perfect balance of earthiness, leather and red-dark fruit blend. Med+ weight, and a LONG finish. A tiny essence of that Barton-green in the mid-palate adds complexity. Decanted for 3 hours and it was singing. Brought to a tasting where someone brought an undecanted '00 Leoville Barton which was tight and closed. This beat it in spades. A lesson in still needing to decant the 2000 left-banks for maximum enjoyment.

Ruby red colour still not really showing its age. Green pepper and some white pepper on the nose. Green pepper comes through on the palate too, a little bit of soft spice to finish. Bit lean and less fruit than last bottle.

(Château Langoa Barton) Opaque very dark red violet color; tight, focused, lavender, graphite, berry nose with lift; delicious and refined berry, plum palate; medium-plus finish

February event tasting JN
Seemed to be towards the end of its drinking window. Dried out at the evening went on and lacked fruit. Needs drinking.

Served in my wine course (gift from A&D). Earthy, herbal, woodsy nose. Medium weight, soft tannins on the finish.
