Exquisite bottle with a perfect cork that leads me to believe my other bottle will be good for another 10-20 years or more. On the nose, olive tapenade, dried violet and lavender, cedar, forest floor, a little herbal, and a sweaty animal aroma. Fruit is mature with a nice mix of red and black fruit. Stewed cranberry, red and black plums, and maraschino cherries. Give it a couple hours to decant and the fruit ripens and all the aromas and flavors integrate into a beautiful expression of what I think Napa cabs should be. Ripe fruit, some herbaceousness (but no bell pepper), spice, hint of cocoa, and plenty of tannin even after 27 years. After 4 hours it started to become tired. Really a tremendous bottle.

Similar notes to last time. Improved over 2-3 hour window and likely would have continued to improve

Brick red with a rim of brown. Musty sweet cherry smell. Dad says tobacco. Cherry pit.

Some Highlights from Flickinger Tasting (Casino Club - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Classic older Cali Cab, wonderful degree of ripeness but also retaining good balance. Mature fruit provides real charm. Best in the next few years.

Over the hill. Wine's been open and in a decanter for 6 1/2 hours. We'll give it one last try tomorrow.
