Magnum in perfect condition with in neck fill and only partly soaked cork. Poured into decanter and drank over about 2.5h with guests at home. Wonderful garnet color with barely any browning at the rim. Perfect balance and harmony on the palate still with good stuffing of dark and red fruit and earthy notes. Completely resolved tannins. Finish could be longer but this is just great to drink with probably only 11.5% alcohol. Wine started to fade though after 1.5h or so and gradually lost most of its fruit. Even from magnum would not decant anymore but perhaps slow ox for an hour or so as it open up with a bit of air, and would certainly drink up any remaining regular bottles.

Brought to Allreds 40th birthday dinner by one of his friends. Decanted for sediment only. Ruby red color. A little higher in acidity than the other 1975 bordeaux at the dinner. Notes of cherries, toasted oak and earthy mushrooms. Light to medium bodied. The oldest Rauzan Grassies that I've had (the others being the 2005 and 2009). Showing well but starting to fade. Drink now. 89 points.

My 40th Birthday Dinner (Anvil Club, East Dundee): Courtesy of Dave, this was tasted alongside the Leoville Las Cases. Aromas of potpourri, dried plum, raisin and flowers. Cherry and red currant fruit on the palate, followed by a nice earthy funk. Medium+ finish. This gained strength as it sat in the glass though, showing more florals and red fruit and less funk, gaining weight on the palate and length on the finish. Wonderful.

Not particularly deep of colour but bright and glistens like a ruby jewel. It is very clean and highly perfumed with an aroma of fresh flowers, red berries, cassis, mint, sage and black earth. It is fine in the mouth with moderate weight and good detail. It is relatively sinewy and lithe but I like it. The wine's structural elements give it good cut and energy to the finish and it possesses sneaky length of flavour.

Bad cork; decrepit, old, outlived, but still somewhat drinkable
