  • A little overly fruity: ripe cassis all day long. Some nice minerality but the fruit is definitely ripe. A little too easy going. Not a hit with me.

  • Looking at prior CT notes, it seems like this had something to give at some point. Right now, it's shut down hard. After 90 minutes of air and decanting in a carafe, the nose finally develops into dark berries, graphite and some oak. The wine shows insane tears in the glass: droplets are just stuck there going down at a snail pace. The palate is completely austere and not giving anything... I didn't notice any flaws, it just seems completely shut down. I'll try another one in a few weeks to see if this was a bad bottle.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of deep ruby colour, with fading rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of blackberry, dark cherries and cassis, dried fruit of prune, kernel notes of coffee, oak notes of cedar, maturity notes of savoury and tobacco, pungent spice of black pepper. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium tannin of ripe and velvety texture, medium alcohol and full body, with medium (+) intensity flavours of black fruit of blackberry and cassis, oak notes of cedar, sweet spice of cardamon, pungent spice of liquorice, maturity notes of savoury. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Margaux with an intense nose showing wonderful complexity, with the black fruit and coffee notes reinforcing well with the oak and development characters. On the palate the wine has good structure, well-balanced and showing robust, concentrated flavours with also a fairly long finish. It is ready to drink now and can maintain for another 3-5 years.

  • PnP, no decant, definitely classic Margaux, subtle elegant nose, black fruits, cassis, cherries, blackberries, with hint of licorice, tobacco, and charcoal. Palate is smooth, tannins are pleasant and mouth coating with black fruit interlaced with hints of tar, charcoal, tobacco and medium to long finish. Enjoyed it, ready to drink
