  • Old Guys Lunch @ Ciao Bella Bloomington Mn. CV,DM,JV,MA,DD & TS. My wine in our last flt with Tom's stellar 07 Renato Ratti Barolo Rocche that did my wine one better. Both btls were excellent examples of ready to go (w/ 2-3hr decants) 14yr old Barolo & Barbaresco. As expected, the Barolo was a bit bigger but its tannins were placid with a suave velvety mouthfeel. The Barolo also delivered a bit more richness and fruit. Possibly producer style? My Produttori was more classic, leaner and more earthy w/ some leather notes. That sad, both were great examples of the beauty of Nebbiolo in the right hands. A really fun flight! 93+ my Barbaresco / 95pts Tom's Barolo.

  • My previous bottle was four years ago, but this has changed very little, and my previous notes apply. 2007 was a warm vintage, and Ratti was still probably experimenting with highly extracted, New World style wines, something which they seem to have abandoned soon after. Anyway, this is about as good as this big style can be, so rich but also savory and complex, the best of both worlds. Drink to 2035?

  • Perfekt drickfönster nu med nedtonade tanniner och syror. Mjuk och bärig med en tydlig violton. Nästan burgundisk karaktär.
    Tålamod med baroloviner lönar sig.

  • On the nose: Acetone, stable, leather, roses, violet.
On the palate: Sweet fruit, roses, leather, fine balanced acidity. Smooth and round.
    Long finish

  • Cloudy color unfortunately but pleasant smell with roses, raspberries and florals. Medium lot full length with integrated fruits, strawberries and some leather in the background. A little on the down slope but still very good
