Pulled from the celler, tasted it and decided it would benefit from decanting that did help open it up. Violets on the nose short finish. Was great on its own. Corked 1/3 bottle & stored overnight in cellar & finished the next night & it was still good.

Canon vs. Duffau-Lagarrosse 2009-2020 tasted blind (Fribourg): Dark garnet, Nose with some greens, asparagus, Pruney and raspberry jam, cough syrup. Green elements despite very ripe fruit. Feels pushed. Oxidative Maggi seasoning notes emerge with air in the glass. I think they have overdone this.

Vertical of Canon vs Beasejour Duffau Lagarrosse (Fribourg): Vertical of Beausejour Duffau Lagarrosse vs Canon vs selected pirates 2005-2020. Main takeaways : i/ Canon trumps Beausejour overall, especially in more recent ones. ii/ Canon tends to be lighter-footed, more delicate while Beausejour is typically more extracted and ripe. iii/ St Emillion clearly struggles with the hotter vintages a few years on with 2005 the low-light, already exhibiting beef juice elements. iv/ best wines were Canon 2015 (95), 2019 and 2020 (94 each). Summary of wines and scores included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: Right out of the gate beef juice notes, otherwise (over-)ripe red berry fruit, faint earthy and mineral notes. The palate adds a some fresher elements of fruit , but couldn’t quite shake off the beef juice. Drying tannin. Felt more like a 2009.

Decant 1 hr, beautiful wine. Has scents of red berries, forest, leather. Tastes of clarity, well balance and refined out of the glass. Tannin's lovely and finish very fine. Medium to full body. give this a few more years

Still quite young and not ready (imo) but was very enjoyable with all of the good attributes there to make it worth aging for a while.
