  • I've decided I don't like Alsace dry riesling. That said, this bottle had very blurred flavors and a nose of basement. Too little acidity. Booo!

  • Paired with bourbon soy ginger glazed salmon. Lanolin initially, gives way after 30-60 minutes to melon, pineapple, coconut, lime. Piña Colada!

  • Opened at Caprice in Hong Kong. P&P.

Honestly, I wasn't too sure what to make of this. Drinking very nicely, but not quite what I expected. Mostly dominated by dry yellow fruit and floral notes; very little petrol if at all. The acidity was bright, but I also wouldn't describe it as fresh.

For the price, go Keller GG instead. However, still an excellent Riesling and enjoyable to drink with a good friend.

  • Kleur: Medium goudgeel. Aroma / bouquet: Indrukwekkend tertiair bouquet, zeer kenmerkend.

Colour: Medium golden yellow. Aroma / bouquet: Impressive tertiary bouquet, very distinctive. Yellow apples, a serious 'goût de pétrol', apricot, peach, honey, chamomile and verbena (Verveine). Taste / Aftertaste: Pronounced fresh acidity, thick-juicy mouthfeel with a rich aromatic expression, petrol, peach, vervain and so on. Overall / potential: Impressive Riesling with a long future ahead… 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Taste / Aftertaste: 18 + Overall / potential: 9 = 95/100

  • (Blind tasting)
Quite mature nose. Apricot compot, mineral and waxiness. Not particularly deep or complex. Lacks typicity.
Medium-fullish, mature palate. Apricot compot and minerality. Some wet stone. High acidity that is almost piercing. Lacks a bit of complexity and typicity.
Second time with this wine and compared with the 2016 Clos Ste Hune this comes out as the weaker wine. Much, much more Alsace Riesling typicity in the 2016. This was actually very hard to pin down and our tasting group even considered some high class Chenin from Loire.
