Coffee, chocolate, mocha which are odd scents for a Riesling but interesting and different. Dark yellow color. Not a ton of acid here but so complex and nuanced. Slightly flat but not off. On the long, gradual down slope but still very pleasurable.

Incredible amounts of tropical fruits on the nose and palate. If served blind I probably would have guessed 2005 Condrieu or something. This possesses the trademark Clos St Hune acidity and after a while some petrol starts to come through. A very unusual, interesting wine but not something that I could drink all night.

Golden yellow. Herbs, minerals, vibrant nose. It opened up after an hour ... There is a base of freshnesses and viscocity but this wine is mineral driven. Screams earth and rock with scrubby herbs stuggling for a living (oregano, sorrel, hint of basil?). Long, crisp finish. Balances nicely the edge of austerity and yet enough freshness to remain easy to drink. This wine worked with a remarkable variety of food over the evening and was classic aged dry riesling and retained interest to the last glass. My memory of the last 1973 we had was that this bottle was slightly less fresh but more intense.

(Trimbach Clos St. Hune) I am a Hune head but have only had young versions. Well I am lying. I had the '85 at Veritas last year and that was a great Hune until this brilliant example of winemaking came my way. The nose initially was classic Hune. Deep minerals and almost a hint of white pepper upon opening with some petrol in the background. Then this wine kept changing aromatically. Anise, menthol, petrol, brown sugar, honey, some stone fruits. All appearing from time to time. The palate was so clean and pure. Perfectly delineated with great concentration and balance. I mean the balance was perfect here. The finish was long and minerally and tapered off perfectly. Best Hune I have had so far. Profound stuff.

World Wine Symposium 2013 - Kevin and Kelly's excellent adventure; 11/6/2013-11/14/2013 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Incredibly fresh and mineral. White flowers, lanoline, truffle, white button mushroom, white pepper and wet stone. Exceptional concentration yet precise, incredible mineral expression, bright acidity and long finish. A great example of Clos Ste. Hune. This is a complete wine.
