Light red with fading. A bit of game and funk along with dull red fruit on the nose. Light to medium weight, herb, soil, and the barest glimpse of real ripeness. On one hand, very Gevrey mixture of aromas and flavors, on the other, not entirely clean and really rather slight for a Grand Cru. I often find Trapet from this era to be unexciting and certainly not spectacular.

The nose remained reserved without decanting. Pour straight from the chilled cellar at 12 degree. After 30 minutes evolving in the glass, aromatic smell of red fruits, cedar, leather is released. Not the best of Latricieres Chambertin I tasted from Trapet as 2001 is not really a good vintage for most.

Beau nez suave, délicatement floral, petites fraises. Bouche racée, au style austère, fougueux, mais non sans subtilité, finale de bonne longueur. C’est très bon, mais pas tout à fait au niveau grand cru, il n’a pas la profondeur des grands Latricières du domaine. 90-91 pts

Lovely wine, developing more complexity now with some age. On the nose very earthy early stages then opens up to a Chambertin tinged aroma of dark red cherries, berries and strawberries perfumed with sweet spices. Ruby red color, good density in glass, tingles the palate at entry with dark red fruits and wet earth dominating mid palate, very good acidity, decent complexity leading to a gratifying spicy and perfumed finish. I would say this wine now has everything in the right place so enjoy it if you have some.
