  • After a few off bottles of this it was wonderful to see this in all of its glory last night. Silky red fruit, cherry, spice, leather and truffle all meld together beautifully. An excellent bottle that was showing such relative youth.

  • The 1978 Trapet Latricieres possesses one of those noses that defines mature Burgundy, synthesizing a hundred details into a cohesive whole. In this case, there’s clove, nutmeg, cardamom, red cherry, and pheasant to savor; the profile was so spicy that, when this was served blind, I thought we were in Vosne or Echezeaux! Yet, for all that’s packed in here, it’s a weightless beauty on the palate. The fruit is starting to thin a touch, so it would be advisable to consume these in the near future when they remain at the top of their game.
