2008 Burg blind tasting. Dessert wine. This was quite dense and sweet with smoke, apricot and bakery spices. I clearly prefer Riesling to Sauternes for its greater freshness.

My first bottle of this. 375cc. Really beautiful nuanced Sauternes. Not at all overly sweet, tasting closer to a VT than true sticky, but with botrytis character of honey and apricot. Worked great with panna cotta w/ saffron. Perhaps a spot more acid would be nice, but seemed very balanced given the residual sugar is not sky high. Nicely done. Punching way above its weight.

Golden colour. Plenty of richness and plush sweet fruit. Lots of Botrytis and acidity just enough to prevent cloying. Gorgeous but seemed to lack a bit of pedigee initially. Tried two days later and more exotic and exciting so still loads of time and think it will be one of the best wines this chateau has produced.

While already amber in colour this has aged very well. A clean expression of dried fruits and flowers. Viscous texture, not overly sweet and with enough freshness. Generally I don't fancy dessert wines but this is nice. Far from decline.

Sigalas Ribaud (375 ML) 2003 is medium bodied wine. The apricot, pinapple, honey and vanilla flavors hits the right spots. Well balanced with nicely integrated oak.
