  • A second time with the 75 and this time a better bottle with higher shoulders.
Reallly nice fruit straight from the bottle. Hit a low after an hour or so, but regained fruit and came back after that. A really nice bottle of wine. 93-94 pts.

  • Low to mid shoulder. Stored under perfect conditions since release by the restaurant owner.

This was quite alright to start with, but improved with 1-2 hour in the decanter. A good wine, but not a wow-wine. 90-92 pts.
Maybe just slightly tannic. The fruit is still fine, but has probably started its gradual decline, the colour is a bit faded.
My second Bordeaux 1975 - previously Montrose, which I think was better, Montrose certainly had fresher fruit. I scored Montrose 93.

My third Angelus: Previously 2008 and 2011.

  • Low shoulder, however, most promising when cork was removed!!
    Most gentle but pleasant bouquet
Copper tints in the glass, quite transparent, some tearing.
The wine was decanted about an hour ahead of time. This should have been longer probably, as the wine showed an incredible evolution in the glas until the very last drop.
Tones of Tabac, very ripe prune. Slightly ‘’dusty” in the beginning, which disappeared. Gentle tannins still alive. Still length and some fruit.
    Such a pleasant surprise!!

  • Parker did not like this year; I consider it not as a top year, but as a very good one; after 45 years it has all its power, all its herbes and grape fruit

  • One of a few bottles purchased from first owner whom always kept the wine under prime condition.
So, I was expecting much. After struggling in safely removing the cork, finally the moment came ...

Colour .... still some red, but mainly light brownish colour.
Nose .... somewhat mouldy, old, ...
Flavour ... just what I was hoping for, that typical flavour of old wines, however still a hint of sharpness there.

Again, I'm amazed that this bottle survived just under 40 years ... nothing but respect from me for this Angelus.
