No notes and only fleeting impressions as it was a knockout wine dinner with chateau Angelus hosted dinner at Anhelo restaurant in downtown Phoenix.
WOW this is an incredible wine, young yes, not in its prime window but an absolute killer wine that with time will be so special. Beautiful dark fruits, mineral and luxurious mouthfeel. Wish I had more. Delicious.
Angelus Tasting (Anhelo (Phoenix)): My favorite of the tasting, and if I was younger, I would buy this wine! It will certainly be a stunning wine when it matures. The fruit is decadent, the tannins smooth, but present, and acidity seems good....everything you want for a great wine!
Nose is typical Angelus (dark fruit and perfumed), and the palate showed dark fruit compote with some earth, graphite and sweet oak....it will certainly be a stunner, and IMO, the best of the three tonight.slightly better than 2010, and much better than 2015. 95+ tonight and may gain a point or 2 with time!
Opaque in color, the perfume, with its wet earth, black cherry, black raspberries, plum liqueur, chocolate, flowers, smoke and licorice is intoxicating. Voluptuous in nature, the cashmere textures that accompany all those unctuous layers of decadently ripe fruit work together in perfect harmony. With time, this could hit triple digits if it continues developing in a positive direction, which I think it will. With the 2018 you have an evolution not a revolution; there is a small shift in style moving to a more refined elegance while retaining all its power. The wine was made from blending 65% Merlot, and 35% Cabernet Franc. With the 2018 only the oldest Cabernet Franc vines were used in the blend.

Medium ruby.
Incredible nose of rich and concentrated black plum, red plum, black cherry, cedar, vanilla, cinnamon.
Incredible concentrated palate. Amazing intensity. Super long finish.
*** Tasted as part of a walkaround 2018 Bordeaux tasting. Not full notes ***
