Just wow. Power. Elegance. Class. This is why they call Barolo the wine of King's. Such a deep nose, with the palate's character and slightly darker and more integrated fruit to match. Compared to a '96 Produttori del Barbaresca Riserva Pora (which was fantastic in its own right), this wine showed why Barolo reigns king.
Drinking fantastic now, but will certainly go the distance in the cellar.

Dark red with slight bricking around the edges. Took >1 h in the decanter to showcase superb and classic aromas of tar, dried violets/roses, licorice, hint of graphite. A full bodied palate shows ripe dark reddish black cherry/plum fruits, smoke, licorice, slightly drying tannins, medium acidity, and strong inner mouth perfume of dried violets and tar on the finish. This is really showing well.

From an Italian wine dinner. Writing from memory.

In its prime, drinking very well but will last for another 5 years; great balance, fruit and acidity; all that would hope for from an aged Barolo
