"Tits and Boobies" (Chicago, IL): For the so-called shoddy 2011 Napa vintage, this is fantastic. Producer over vintage all day long. There is so much of an old-school sensibility to this. Very judicious oak use, where it is more of a seasoning than an actual flavour. Plush, dark fruit, and a silky, refined texture on the palate. Sure, it won't be the longest-lived Napa wine, but there is already so much enjoyment to be had here.

Fantastic new-worlds: Thought this was much older than it was. Old-school with some earthy notes and dusty tannins. Had the most resemblance to an old-world wine out of the line-up tonight, liked the restraint but did not wow me like the 1999 did.

Much improved since my last bottle (2020). Better balance, more prominent fruit, less of the green olive and herbal notes. Just proves that a great winery will produce a good wine even in an off vineyard. Admittedly this seemed a little thinner than most other vintages of Diamond Creek but the flavor profile was what I would have expected from a typical vintage. Drank this as part of a flight with good friends and wine buddies.

Outstanding. Best damn Bordeaux I’ve had all year! I ended up draining half the bottle from what was to be a Coravin “sample”. No decant just right down the hatch while grilling prime burgers. I’ve tasted over 300 Cali Cabs and this was sure unique in achieving that Bordeaux profile. I remember reading Mondavi’s book and that’s what he was shooting for. I then read the CT tasting notes this morning and glad to see my fellow wine enthusiasts felt the same way. Reminds me of St Julian or Estephe In it’s flavor profile. Cheers!

Bright and fresh. Currants, berries and cherries over a core of chocolate and mushroom.
