Wines At Our Table; February 7th, 2016: Crimson color with smoky, earthy, red fruit aromas. With a hint of graphite. On the palate its medium-bodied, fresh showing slightly astringent tannins in Day 1 that soften to appealing dusty tannins on Day 2 with juicy focused black cherry, red currant flavors with a bit of minerality and a lingering delicious finish. A Ciro DOC Rosso Riserva of 95% Gaglioppo 5% Greco Bianco and Trebbiano Toscano. Very good QPR @$16!

Bela cor granada/ alaranjada bastante clara.

This a very interesting grape, and I will keep an eye open for it in the future. Vocal nose with a touch of spices, cherries, raspberry candy (hallonbåtar), rose hip, leather, strawberry lemonade, liquorice, some dried fruit, figs and raisins and some roasted oak. Mdeium acidity with a medium body, generous fruit. Good intensity and medium+ finish, just slightly dry. Good value.

100% Gaglioppo. The color is clear, medium ruby. The nose shows some aromas of tar and roses. The palate is dry. The acidity is medium (++), which is surprising for such a warm weather wine. The alcohol is medium at 13.5%, surprisingly low. The tannins are medium (+), the polyphenols are smooth, the minerality is medium (+). It is medium bodied, with medium flavor intensity and length. Another very interesting, balanced and food-friendly wine by Librandi. Drinkeable now, or for several more years. A good value at $19.00.

Weekly tasting group #109; Wines with 3 glasses in the Italian wine bible Gambero Rosso plus a few special extra's. (@ WW): Light transparent red. Not much in the bouquet. On the palate a fruit driven wine with mainly red fruits. Some vegetal impressions, ok acidity and some bitterness in the finish. Not really special (except for the varietal.), but there is enough to taste in this wine.
