  • 12,5% alcohol.

Pale lemon yellow color. Dusty, dull and old nose with strong, dry aromas of Comté cheese, some old farmhouse, a little bit of damp wool and a hint of hay. The wine is full-bodied, broad and quite old on the palate with ripe flavors of bruised flavors, some nutty oxidation, a little bit of flint smoke, light notes of slivered almonds, a hint of chalky mineral bitterness and an earthy touch of mushroom. The medium acidity really doesn't feel adequately high to lend enough freshness to the wine. The finish is ripe and sweet-toned with old and slightly dull flavors of mealy red apples, some tangy salinity, a little bit of wizened white fruit, a hint of chalky bitterness and a touch of mushroom.

At first the wine felt almost corked with its dusty characteristics, but further examination revealed that the wine wasn't corked, just old and pretty much fallen apart. There are some vague fruit flavors here, but mostly all the fruit has faded away, leaving just dull, tertiary flavors behind. The oxidation has started to creep in and all the pleasant, developed complexity has left the wine. The wine feels still somewhat drinkable, but not particularly enjoayble. Time to drink up.
