Stood up for 2 weeks and decanted off a significant amount of sediment. While decanting this smelled a bit oxidized, but not really once in the glass. 8 years since my last bottle. Deep ruby, youthful color with very faint bricking; medium intensity aromatics, youthful plum fruit, some figs, slight cedar, nutmeg spices; palate is medium-full bodied, very primary fruit with plums and figs, medium to medium-plus acidity (a bit surprising!), alcohol is high as expected but not showing any excess heat, tannins very balanced and smooth; medium length finish. Compared to my notes from 8 years ago, this is still drinking surprisingly youthfully as it was then, and just as well balanced with the notable acidity and balanced tannin, as well as the slightly shorter than expected medium-length finish. Very good for now, with improvement expected tomorrow based on how the last bottle showed. 92-93 for now, with decades ahead of this wine. 1 hour air: The bit of almost effervescence has calmed down, and the flavors are starting to meld. Still youthful, but developing more complexity over time. 93 now. Day 2: not markedly improved, unlike my last bottle. Very nice, but doesn’t reach those heights. Not sure if this is bottle variation or evolution. Day 3: Holding up well and not fading/oxidized, but also not developing a ton more complexity than it was showing before. Still 93.

From half bottle obtained at auction, some seepage, good cork. Didn't take contemporaneous notes but this was very nice. Beautiful black and red fruits with a touch of bramble to keep it interesting. Not too sweet, dare I say elegant for port. The alcohol coming up a bit during the development would be my criticism, which I'm not sure more time in the bottle would rectify.

Smooth no tannins but quite sweet and fruit forward - not subtle
