Deep gold, as if oxidized, but blessedly not. A big, powerful wine, with rich aromas of peach, mint, and crushed stone. There's some oak-derived spice too. Dense and concentrated, with significant dry extract and high acidity, the 2012 Montrachet lives up to its Grand Cru billing. There's more oak here than my personal preference but it finds balance. I'm surprised how accessible this is today: You shouldn't feel guilty opening this now but best starting 2021.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Subtle start, ripe apple, mint and baking spice hints. This unfolds on your taste buds with a very long finish. It would be easy to underestimate this wine, but great power and concentration really only emerge at the end.

2015 La Paulée Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Regal, middle weight but super creamy texture, ripe citrus, exquisite poise and length. Not the most powerful wine ever but just achingly classy and beautiful. Not to mention that it is a rare treat to taste a Montrachet. Worthy of this appellation.

Nice, good flavor, balanced, though overall underwhelming. Missing something.

La Paulée de New York - Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion): Lots of power and citrus notes on this young Montrachet. Lacked focus. It didn't blow me away.
