This bottle, from Bea's second vintage producing dry Sagrantino wine, had been stored upon release by a restaurant not 20 minutes from the estate. Carefully decanted off the considerable sediment, this immediately revealed a beguiling blend of brown sugar, dates, ginger, tomato paste, and balsamic notes. The middle palate was slightly Port-like in its mouthfeel and high-toned acidity, while the finish was full of sweet red fruits. Outstanding. Bottle #2755. Rated 3 on a scale of -1 to 3.
