A delightful Riserva Brunello from a non-stellar vintage. Frankly it was perfect, just not exceptional. Great floral upon opening and limited sediment. The cork pulled easily and did not crumble. The wine improved upon a 24 hour decant. That wonderful trademark earthy chalky taste made it memorable moment.

Presented in single-blind fashion ("Tuscany theme") to the Vintage Wines, Ltd. tasting group. Since the bottle was taken from my cellar, my tasting was unblinded. The wine was double-decanted (with removal of heavy sediment), taken to Vintage Wines, Ltd. and served in another decanter over another two hours. Showing a deep garnet robe and brick rim, the wine sports a quite intense nose of mocha, exotic spices, cherries and cigar box. Full-bodied on the palate, with somewhat tart acidity and medium sweet tannins. The flavors mirror the nose and the finish is long, but tart. Overall, this is a very nice Brunello which should hold up well for another 7-8 years. It was very well-received by the tasting group.
