  • Drank this with steak and it was decanted for about a bottle of champagne at dinner. Beautiful red fruited/cherry nose. The palate had a fantastic mouth feel. Cherry, ripe strawberries, savory. Mineral finish. Tannins poking out at the end but with steak they weren’t an issue at all. Just enough ugh acidity. Great wine.

  • 4 hour decant - absolutely booming, needs that much air.

Massive, black fruit, lots of mineral. Pair with lamb.

Stellar, and not subtle. Still young.

  • Fuligni never disappoints me. I think my first of their Riservas. I can't be sure if it's better than an Annata for any given vintage, but if the price is right, like this was, can't hurt to step up to it. As Tim Heaton wrote in a TN on 6/23, "I'll plan to drink my remaining six bottles in the coming ten years - even if it can go longer than that, and still be good/interesting.". Will do same with my 4 reaming. And maybe buy more.

  • With pigdaddy. This PnP was allowed to breathe for ~ 30 minutes prior to service. As good as this wine is, it was always a step behind the very fine company. I'll plan to drink my remaining six bottles in the coming ten years - even if it can go longer than that, and still be good/interesting.

  • Stellar after a four hour decant, and not a minute sooner. This is tightly wound stuff, tastes quite traditional to me. Garnet. Big, but balanced: black cherry, leather, minerals, a bit of smoke. Still very tannic, with an extraordinarily long finish.

Great with food like any BdM, but this one is best on its own.

This has all the elements to hold for at least another decade, but it's into its drinking window with ample air. Fuligni has seldom punched me in the gut the way it seems to for the pro critics, but this was by far the best I've had from this house.
