It had a beautiful deep dark golden color with burnt caramel, toffee, & some citrus with marmalade & a vicious & syrupy texture on the palate. Quite sweet but that is held in check by the acidity. This has held up very well for a nearly 60 year old wine.

Cork was damp all the way through, but came out clean with a butler's friend corkscrew. light brown. rich nose, fresh, with dried apricot, botrytis, and notable age. Sweet, full, rich, mouth watering, following the dried fruit nose, adding some citrus and zest. Very fresh for its age. Long zesty finish

Dinner at S.K.Y. (Chicago, IL): Ex-cellar Paul Draper of Ridge fame. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of this bottle, but despite that, I think this is a wine that is getting a bit long in the tooth. There's definitely a lot of a great sauternais elements here, with bitter orange marmalade and almonds playing a very large role, both on the nose and palate. Intense and still fairly sweet, but also possessing some slightly desiccated qualities, I think, honestly, this is just old. Still, a delicious pairing with lobster dumplings.

Lucky enough to taste a bottle from a friend's cellar -- dark amber now, like aged honey. Still a lovely nose, moderately sweet, but the fruit and acid has faded. Probably super 10 or 20 years ago, but over the hill.

Marshmallow, orange peel, marnier, bruleed sugar, potpourri. Mouthfilling and delicious, how can this be so vigorous while being over 50 years old?
