Grabbed a case of these with a house wine for pizza/pasta in mind, and I think it should do the job. Smells like cherry, orange, black pepper, smoke, and black tea. Medium body, acid and finish, with flavors of cherry, plum, lemon, and orange. A little light, so better for simpler or lighter Italian style fare. In other words, would work better with a chicken or fish in red sauce than a Bolognese. Ready to drink now. 87-88

The 2017 vintage was made from a blend of 60% Nebbiolo, 40% Freisa and Dolcetto with 6 months of stainless steel aging. The color is pale garnet with a touch of bricking at the edge. No signs of sediment. Nose: earth, sour and slightly dried cherries, a touch of tar, and some red raspberries. Palate: Overall, the wine is very fresh with some dried violets, cherries, raspberries, and it feels "dusty" if that makes sense. This wine is a bit austere at this point. With some air (two airs in the decanter), this wine balanced out and was very enjoyable. Medium plus acidity, medium body, no detectable heat, and grippy tannins but still very present. Not sure that this is currently at peak. I would not be in a hurry with this wine.
