From a bottle with perfect levels. A bit musty on opening, but changes within 5 mins in the glass. Absolutely glorious nose of rose petals, dried leaves and forest floor. Fully resolved on the palate... Everything is integrated and in the right place. A beautiful mature burgundy. 1985s are in such a great place. Good to see trapet performing above their 1980s reputation.

La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Black and meaty. Made in a very Old School and structured style and clear Grand Cru density. Finishes a little dirty, but not in an unpleasant way.

Zachys Capital Collection Pre-Auction BYO Wine Dinner (Fiola Mare - Washington, DC): Small glass, brief note. Roasted meat and lingering black fruit with eve more earth, leather and horse notes. Good, but clearly on the back nine.

Lovely, luscious nose but the palate starts with too much astringency, and deteriorates from there due to oxidation. Shame!
