Bourgogne visit 29/10-1/11-2023: Visit at Trapet Pere & Fils. Tasted 7 cuvees from Trapet: 5 btls. from Gevrey-Chambertin and 2 others. The clear winner was Le Chambertin 2006, which was nothing but outstanding. Wow, I rated it 97. Long after followed Chapelle Chambertin 2017 and Latricieres Chambertin 2011 which I rated 91. This wine: As mentioned it was just outstanding. I notice that WA has only rated it 89. The reason must be it was back in 2009... I actually rated the complex aromas 98: Still fruit of cherry, red currant, strawberry and also tertiary notes of forest flor, farm yard, mushroom. A subtle scent of cedar. I rated the palate 95+ with Medium- tannins, medium alcohol and body, medium+ intensity and long finish. That leaves me with an overall rating of 97

Beautiful strawberry nose. Pale brick color. Missing some complexity and intensity on the palette. Some tannins, well integrated. Drinking well now.

Blind tasting. Young and sturdy, lots of earthy and spice notes. A little rustic structurally. I would give this a few more years.
