Mugneret Gibourg did extremely well in 2018. Clearly producer over vintage here. I love everything about this wine. Acid, weight, color and structure are all here. The color is so light but the intensity on the palate is mind-boggling. This evolved perfectly over the first 2 nights but by night 3, the wine was gone. Literally. I drank it all.

Wednesday night after a trying day at work, and I needed something good. This was at hand. Two hours to open up (working from home means you can let a bottle air while still on Zoom calls) then it was down to business. Deep blackberry, Darjeeling tea, spice, cedar and moist earth all come through on the nose. It’s a little bit aggressive on the palate, so time is definitely your friend. I will wait on my other bottles, and definitely wait on the Colombiere. Of course I say that now, and will most likely have a loss of willpower sooner rather than later.
This might be the most aromatically complex village level burgundy I have ever enjoyed. Clove, big stem aromas, currant, sandalwood, black tea, and cranberry. This is utterly stunning in its youth. I have a few of these or I wouldn't have touched these for 10 years minimum. Medium bodied as well as medium acid and tannin. Maybe medium plus tannin. I'm on the fence. I thought there would be more tannin present considering the whole cluster but it was a warm vintage so it makes sense. The finish lingers for minutes. I'm not sure if they chaptilized but a lot of winemakers didn't in 2018.
This was decanted for 4 hours prior to serving. If you have more than a few, open one. It will be quite interesting to see where it goes from here. What an experience!!
Edit.....Thanks to Mr. Kelly.....this wine is completely destemmed. William, you are a national treasure! Keep that sh#t up!!!!

Cecile Tremblay & Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Dinner (ZEA Taipei): Much darker than Tremblay 16 Vosne VV, focused palate. However, the substance is there. Still needs at least 3 or more years.
