Once again in magnum, once again nearly perfect now. And amongst 15 fine wines at an event last night, one of the most complete. A medium red color, an incredibly floral nose showing the best of Pomerol and a well-balanced fruit/acid backbone delivering supple yet elegantly positioned red currant, dark cherry and a bit hint of sous bois. No decant needed.

PnP from mag Red fruit on the nose with dried raspberry, cassis, and a touch of vanilla and green herb notes. It’s med body, med acid, med+ tannin. There’s a bit of astringency here between the acid and tannin. This should soften up with some air, but I’m not sure if this is at its peak or if a few more years would do it good.

Once again a super hit, and to some a surprisingly near-perfect magnum of Pomerol, combining the pretty auburn edged dark red hue with a distinct cedar, cherry, and sweet herb nose into that delicious melange that makes Right Bank wines so inviting. Very deep, strong corps, complex beyond its prior showings, with plenty of layered cherry, cedar, smoke, and mild foresty scents. Ready with little time in the glass needed, though it did evolve nicely after 15 minutes and there is a tiny weakness mid-palate but hardly an issue.

Very mature and musty bouquet. Same on the palate. Could be cork, not sure, but definitely not fresh. Pity. No score.
