Bought from recent HDH auction. Very nice bottle. Seems to have been stored well over the years. Decanted for about an hour and rebottled for dinner out / drank about a 1.5 hours later. Funk blew off quickly in the decanter. Color medium. Still enough fruit with nice integration was a very pleasant bottle. 2 more bottles left to enjoy

Did not decant, pop and pour. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of earth, toast, charr wood, spices. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Performing at its peak depending on bottle condition.

Pomerol, part 1 (67 Pall Mall): Much more translucent than the other wines, and more ethereal too. That said, the wine was evolved but not exactly old, with soft menthol aromas, damp earth, and gentle, sweet fruit that (heresy!) reminded me of dilute Ribena.

Nick A’s Pomerol @67 (67 Pall Mall, London): Really vibrant mid to full garnet. Ouch, the glass detergent problem is at its most obvious here. Swimming pools with ban aid floaters. Takes almost over 20mins to lift and reveal a lovely nose, lighter and more savoury and evolved. Mid to light weight. Relatively delicate. Harmonious but delicate with signs of fragility. Some florality. ***1/2

One of Those Big Birthdays (Margaux's Table, White Bear Lake, MN): Dark red maroon color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour. Another dicey cork, but a nice wine drinking well. Very metallic minerality on the nose, dominating for the most part, some dried flowers, decaying mushrooms, dried cherries. The palate is medium bodied, leather, metallic, iron, strong minerality, earthy, mild tannins. 91+ to 92pts.
