Drinking absolutely beautifully now - but I think I´ll let my last bottle rest for a while. Curious how this will evolve further. - to be certain, it´s going to be in a great way!

Drinking beautifully. A gorgeous perfume of red fruits and flora, tinged with iron. A fleshy and generous entry to the palate and a core of intense fruit. It is layered and detailed, with ample structure that is still somewhat buried. The finish is chewy and expansive and very long.

2016 Vajra (and Baudana) Barolo tasting (Wellington, NZ): The Baudana vineyard is located on the western slope of Serralunga d’Alba, just north of Parafada and Lazzarito, 350 metres above sea level. The vines are 50 years old.
Attractive notes of red cherries, rose florals, warm tilled soil, worn leather and dry underbrush. Tasting more earthbound than the other Barolos. Warm earth, dried brush, dried herbs and old leather. The fruit largely in the red fruit spectrum: tart red cherries, raspberries and even some wild strawberries. Some iron and gravelly minerality. Silky, elegant tannins. Dense with refined, satiny mouthfeel. Seeming less structured and more open textured than the Ravera or Bricco delle Viole. Also, seeming more rounded and less austere than the top two Vajra Barolos. However, there is still serious Serralunga terroir here. Drink from 2025+.

Decanted and consumed over 60 minutes. Initially, dried red fruit, leather, and moderate strength mouth gripping tannins that made me think classic Barolo. After about 15 minutes this opened up with light-moderate aromas of fresh strawberry jam and roses. Similar flavors with a hint of alcohol in the middle that finishes with silky-moderate-strength tannins. Medium body. Moderate complexity/finish. Well built. I'm curious if this will add depth. 91-94.
