  • The 2006 Beychevelle is a little muted on the nose, but it expands nicely on the palate with dense, supple, blue and black fruit. The hint of potpourri which develops in the mouth is very nice and I hope it will blossom in time.

  • Dark ruby Color, nose is dark fruit, licorice, spice. Still quite primary. Palate is well balanced, blackberries, minerals. Probably could have held on longer for more tertiary notes.

  • Bright clear garnet colour. Graphite, violets and toasted oak. Hint of blackberries. Has elegance and structure. Fine tannins and very long finish. Very fine.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of medium ruby colour, with fading garnet rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas of black fruit of blackberry, plum and dark cherries, mineral notes of earth, kernel notes of coffee, oak notes of toast, maturity notes of savoury, pungent spice of licorice. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has high tannin of ripe and velvety texture, medium alcohol, medium (+) body and medium (+) intensity flavours of black fruit of blackberry and plum, oak notes of vanilla, kernel notes of chocolate, mineral notes of leather. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality St-Julien with a reasonably intense nose showing good complexity, with black fruit and earthy, coffee and toasty, licorice and savoury development, the wine has good structure, well-balanced with rich tannin and concentrated flavours as well as a decent length of the finish. Ready to drink now, it can maintain for another 3-5 years.
