Sometimes a wine from a so so year needs a bit of time to pull together. Although this will never be mistaken for an excellent year at Sky Vineyards, this wine is much better than it was a few years ago. It is lighter than Sky tends to be, but it has those distinct mountain grown zinberry flavors that I enjoy. Quite integrated now with aromas of mountain fruit, and a woody, fruity aftertaste, it went very well with an inexpensive steak and salad. There are much better vintages of this wine, but this is quite good and reveals the necessity of bottle age for this wine. I picked this up about 4 or 5 years ago at bargain basement prices at the Grocery Outlet, and cellaring has really paid off.
