Transformed from a muscular '86 to a silky, complex wine. Still some acidity and only slightly brown. Tired, however and I should have consumed it 10 years ago. My cost in the late '80's, $12.70.

Further to Aug 21, '23 note: Tried another (#3) with friends as BYO at a local French-style bistro along with two '95 everyday Bdx from other appellations . Consistent notes: Dark, delicious, very good mouthfeel, some persistence, and the favorite among most of the six of us. The somm handled decanting but did not return the cork (unlike the other two), suggesting that it might have crumbled (reminder: use a long worm or Durand). Solid outstanding.

Bought a 12b case for 14/b 29 years go from Zachy's; this is #2 (basement organizing in '02 left this buried under a stack). Solid cork, but long worm is important. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple, no amber; rich mature blackcurrant nose; mature blackcurrant, other black fruits, hint of toasted oak, very good mouthfeel; some persistence. Though not complex, this was beautiful and delicious--and a pleasant surprise after reading recent CT posts. Do storage conditions explain the difference? Quality, age, price: outstanding.

Lots of tart cherry, some savory notes, mature but not too old.

Still hanging in there. Chocolate, tobacco; some richness/complexity and moderately lingering.
