  • Very nice drop. Drinking beautifully after just under 1hr decant

  • Good color, consistent from the edge in. Drinking well with notes of plum, ginger, smoke and mushroom. Not a big mouthful more like a sheet than a blanket.

  • Dark ruby in colour, watery rim! Nose of grilled bell pepper, creme cassis, a touch of vanilla and a hint of spearmint! Some unresolved tannin on the palate, the good news is, some sweet ripe dark fruits showing here and some minerals too! Drinking rather well at this moment and time!

  • Started out strong, with a very fragrant nose of dark fruits, sweet cassis, pencil shavings, violets, barnyard, and roasted coffee. After an hour and a half aeration, the nose lost some of its punch and complexity. Mature color, with a dull ruby color and lightening of the edges. Better on the nose than the palate, but still overall enjoyable. Medium-bodied, soft mouthfeel, lacking a bit in complexity. Tannins in the background, medium acidity. Medium length finish. A nice food wine that shows off its Pauillac character. Good value. Would drink this soon if you have it.

  • This beauty pours with a deep purple color with some bricking at the edges. The wine is very viscous, clocking at 13 percent abv with thick long legs. A very confident bouquet of scallions, lead pencil shavings, earth and tobacco smoke. Surprisingly there is not much fruit on the nose. On the palate, the wine shows more fruit with copious amounts of blackberries and stewed plums. There is also a strong backdrop of mushrooms, wet earth, oak and granite. Although austere, the wine is surprisingly charming in the old classic Pauillac style. Tannins are ever so velvety as you would expect after extensive development in the bottle. The finish is long with moderate acidity keeping the balance. Somehow, the smokiness in the wine pervades for a long time. The score is just a tad lower than the 1989 due to the lack of balance with the acidity.
